A few tips for startup #Founders from my 20+ years of investment experience (and yes, I’ve thrown some companies out of our offices too!): ✅ Open up. Receive feedback, ideas, criticism, and offers. There is value in everything – you just need to see it. Take what you need, and leave aside with gratitude what you don’t. ✅ Relax. You don’t have to try too hard, just be yourself and look well-groomed and natural. Even if it was a date night that would be a good tip 😉. ✅ Be ready to grow. Expand. Stretch your boundaries. ✅ Get help/advice. Many startups don’t know where to start, how to face investors, and there are some great European startups that could benefit from expertise in international markets. There are great people around who can support you on your journey. A few things to avoid: 🚫 Don’t get defensive – it’s a no-no. People are here to help. Receive feedback and constructive criticism with gratitude. If some features aren’t yet there, say it. It’s OK to be a startup. 🚫 Don’t say “I don’t need clients/money/advice.” If you don’t need it, you won’t get it – and one day you definitely will need it. 🚫 Don’t make things up or hide information. Any lack of transparency is a big red flag. Investors need to know about you and what you’ll do with their money. 🚫 Don’t say “no” straight away to perspectives or features you don’t want to develop.
