3 common behaviours that may lead to burnout if not reigned in
❎#1 Believing you have to wear your superhero cape all the time.
YES you have a Herculean amount of strength and stamina BUT
YOU are still human.
YOU are allowed to and need to feel emotions like everyone else
Tiredness, exhaustion, confusion, anxiety, pressure etc
The problem is when you stop connecting with what you are feeling and experiencing on a day-to-day basis you lose the ability to really know and understand yourself in times of stress and challenge, becoming almost robotic.
This can affect your thinking and your decision-making, as you are not fully aligned with who you are and what you believe in…too focused on DOING and not enough BEING
✅ SOLUTIONS
Learn to understand your emotions in any given situation, label them and question them, what are they telling you?
THEY ARE CLUES AS TO WHAT IS GOING ON INSIDE AND DETERMINE HOW YOU BEHAVE UNDER STRESS
❎#2 The show must go on!
Who can relate? Never taking time off when feeling low or run down? When your immune system is under pressure it only weakens your performance. By ignoring the signs, you increase the risk of more serious illness and a slower recovery period
✅SOLUTION
STOP, PAUSE, AND REST WHEN YOUR BODY IS TELLING YOU TO. This doesn’t always mean taking taking time off, more like taking time OUT! Encorporating short mindfulness practices into your day can have a dramatic impact on your well-being
❎#3 last but not least! All front stage focused, oblivious of what is going on backstage! All the attention is on showing up, qualities really displayed for other people to believe and trust in you, but to the detriment of what’s going on behind the scenes. Backstage you are depositing your fears, worries, concerns, confusion, and self-doubt.
The problem is if this is left unattended, the backstage starts leaking onto the front stage and can weaken your own self-perception and how others see you, often unaware.
✅SOLUTION
Work on your backstage! When your back is strong you can lean on yourself more! Reducing the prevalence of number #1 and #2
Find ways to address any worries, DUMP it, COACH it, SHARE it!
Doing so will decrease stress levels, and make you stronger, more confident, and more resilient!
