Last week Tabreed was honoured to host a delegation of 30 students from the Young ADIPEC programme, at one of the company’s district cooling plants on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi. These field trips are designed to benefit participants by ‘learning through doing’ and our CEO, Khalid Al Marzooqi, as well as SVP – O&M Support, Atef Al Breiki and Acting VP – Human Capital, Dalal Al Yafei, were on hand to speak about the benefits of district cooling and the importance of pursuing careers in engineering and industry. For the students this visit opened their eyes to the incredible, complex infrastructure that provides essential and sustainable cooling. For Tabreed it was a valuable and enjoyable opportunity to interact with youths with the potential to become future captains of industry – definitely a win/win scenario. #Tabreed

It’s true that prevention is better than cure but, when it comes to our health, sometimes things are outside our control and we need to check ourselves from time-to-time. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and, at Tabreed, we take the health and wellbeing of everyone very seriously. Every year we host interactive awareness sessions for our female staff on this vitally important matter and yesterday we were privileged to host Dr Sura Zwain, Medical Director and Consultant for Obstetrics and Gynaecology at NMC Royal Women's Hospital. The hour-long session conducted by Dr. Sura was lively, insightful and hugely beneficial. Breast cancer claims far too many lives around the world and initiatives such as this help keep everyone informed and aware of the danger signs. Employee engagement is an essential pillar of Tabreed and this was just one of the year-round programme of events we organise to help keep safe our most important asset of all: our people.

Another day, another award ceremony showcasing the incredible achievements of Tabreed! And we’re particularly pleased with this one, as this week the company was honoured at the Asian Power Awards in Singapore, in a ceremony attended by other giants of the GCC and Asian energy sector. Recognising Tabreed as a long-established champion of sustainability, judges awarded us with two significant wins: ‘Geothermal Power Project of the Year – Gold’ (for our ‘G2COOL’ geothermal plant developed in partnership with ADNOC Group) and ‘District Cooling Initiative of the Year – UAE’ (for last year’s pioneering pilot study with nanofluid technology). Representing Tabreed and accepting the two awards on the night was Irshad Hussain MCIArb MRICS , Vice President – Projects, joined on stage by colleagues Mohamed Gadara and Ajeesh Musthafa. In his acceptance speech, Irshad detailed the benefits of Tabreed’s operations and reiterated that Southeast Asia is a region in which we’re eager to do business, bringing our globally unrivalled expertise in sustainable cooling. Congratulations to everyone involved in these game-changing projects, which provide further proof that Tabreed really is the world’s leading district cooling company.
