About us

In Zimbabwe the National Social Security Authority (NSSA), is constituted and established in terms of the NSSA Act of 1989, Chapter 17: 04. NSSA is the statutory corporate body tasked by the Government to provide social security in Zimbabwe. The provision of social security can be defined as instituting public policy measures intended to protect an individual in life situations or conditions in which his/her livelihood and well-being may be threatened, such as those engendered by sickness, workplace injuries, unemployment, invalidity, old age, retirement and death. It is based on the principle of social solidarity and pooling of resources and risks, involving drawing of savings from periods of employment, earnings and good health to provide for periods of unemployment, old age, invalidity and death. At the moment NSSA is administering two schemes: Pension and Other Benefits Scheme and Accident Prevention and Workers’ Compensation Scheme, although, in an endeavour to provide a more comprehensive social security package for the Zimbabwean society, the groundwork for the introduction of more schemes is underway.

  • NSSA promotes worker health through the Occupational Health Mobile Clinic, offering occupational disease surveillance and a one-stop shop for care. This brings essential healthcare services directly to the employee, making it easier for employees to access occupational disease surveillance and a wide range of medical care. Workers in high-risk industries often face prolonged exposure to harmful conditions, which can lead to long-term health complications. The Occupational Health Mobile Clinic aims to combat these issues by providing timely screenings, health assessments, and disease prevention measures. By offering on-site consultations and diagnostic services, the clinic ensures that workers receive proper monitoring and early intervention for occupational illnesses, such as respiratory conditions, hearing loss, and musculoskeletal disorders. This mobile clinic is a one-stop shop for worker health. It is equipped with modern medical equipment and staffed by qualified healthcare professionals, including occupational health specialists who are dedicated to identifying and mitigating work-related health risks. Employees can benefit from comprehensive services, including routine check-ups, health education, and advice on how to reduce work-related injuries or illnesses. NSSA's initiative is not only about preventing illness but also empowering workers with the knowledge and resources they need to maintain their health. By providing these services on-site, NSSA reduces the barriers to accessing occupational health care, particularly for workers in remote or underserved areas. In summary, the NSSA's Occupational Health Mobile Clinic is a vital resource in safeguarding the well-being of workers. It exemplifies a proactive approach to occupational health by delivering essential care where and when it is needed most. Through this initiative, NSSA is ensuring that workers are better protected, healthier, and more informed about their well-being. Worker safety and health are our priority! #OccupationalHealth #ALifelongPromise

  • Did you forget some entries whilst uploading your P4 return forms on the Portal? No worries! Just re-upload a separate file with the left-out records! P4 UPLOAD STEP BY STEP 1.     Click CONTRIBUTIONS MANAGER on the left pane under the HOME sign 2.     Click UPLOAD CONTRIBUTIONS 3.     Click DOWNLOAD P4 TEMPLATE and open it in excel 4.     After opening the excel sheet, you are to edit columns E (PERIOD then K to N. -         E is PERIOD and the period format starts with the year and then the month e.g 2401 (January 2024), 2205( May 2022) 2011 (NOVEMBER 2020) so edit the period to the period that you want to do the upload -         K is the POBS (Pension and Other Benefits Scheme) INSURABLE EARNINGS. This column contains the ceiling for that specific month or less depending on how much the employee earned that month. For example 2108 (April 2024) the ceiling was ZiG 5010.83. For an employee A who earned Zig 10 000 (above the ceiling) we put the ceiling only in the column that is 5010.83. For employee B who earned ZiG2 000 (below the ceiling) we put the salary as it is ZiG 2 000 because it is below the ceiling. 5.     Colum L is POBS CONTRIBUTIONS,  this is 9% of column K (POBS INSURABLE EARNINGS) 6.     Column M is BASIC APWCS ( Accident Prevention Workers Compensation Scheme) and N are identical, they each contain the actual basic salary earned by the employee for example employee A its ZiG 10 000 then B its ZiG 2 000. After completing the p4 form, you need to capture 2 totals on a piece of paper, 1. Total from Column K (POBS) 2. Column M (APWCS) N.B Do not put totals on the excel sheet 7. Save the excel sheet as you wish e.g Company name plus the period you are uploading for 8. Return to the Self Service Portal, and go on Contributions Manager then upload Contributions then go where it says PERIOD select the period you are uploading for and this should match with the period highlighted on the excel sheet. Click Done and the declaration form appears 9.  On the declaration form, Number of employees POBS you put number of employees contributing towards pension, below the age of 65 and on APWCS put the number of all employees at the workplace. 10. TOTAL INSURABLE EARNINGS POBS you put the total figure from column K, TOTAL INSURABLE EARNINGS APWCS you put the total figure form column M 11. If the salaries are in ZiG ignore the RATE part and go on CHOOSE FILE or BROWSE and attach the completed excel sheet. 12. Click on CHECK FOR ERRORS, you have submitted for verification so if everything is correct the records appear in green and the success graph should be on 100% and it should give you a message which reads FILE PROCESSING COMPLETE. However if the records are in red, go on the record highlighted in red on your far right and click on the NO button to read the error message in detail. N.B. From June 2024 ceiling is USD $700. If salaries are in ZiG use the interbank rate to find the ZiG Ceiling. #SelfServicePortal #ALifelongPromise
