  • EMPOWERING VULNERABLE CHILDREN THROUGH EDUCATION: KCM's COMMITMENT Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) is dedicated to making a positive impact in the communities we serve. Our early learning initiative at Ndeleni and Nsungeni community centers is a testament to this commitment. In partnership with the Council of Churches in Zambia at Ndeleni in Chingola and the Maureen Mwanawasa Community Initiative at Nsungeni in Chililabombwe, we provide learning and nutrition for a total of 320 vulnerable children. Our CSR Manager, Mr. Brain Siatubi emphasized during the graduation of 80 learners from our schools the importance of educating young children and its positive impact on their future. He also announced plans for upcoming projects in our areas of operation, including: -Construction of classroom blocks -Building laboratories -Construction of classes for differently-abled children -Providing tertiary scholarships To ensure the sustainability of this project, KCM provides monthly grants to support quality child care services for vulnerable children in the community. Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) has today relaunched its operations at the Konkola Business Unit in Chililabombwe after conducting similar events in Nampundwe, Nkana and Nchanga, marking a significant milestone in the company's growth plan. KCM Chief Operating Officer Malcolm Mewett announced during the launch that over $700 million will be invested in the Konkola Mine underground developments to unlock vast copper resources and increase production. This investment is part of Vedanta Resources Limited's $1 billion pledge to KCM over the next five years.   • Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) is proud to announce the launch of the Integrated Livelihoods Project, a $1.8 million initiative aimed at improving the socio-economic well-being of over 18,600 people in Chingola, Chililabombwe, and Shibuyunji Districts. According to the Copperbelt Minister, Hon. Elisha Malambo who graced the launch, the project is a testament to KCM’s commitment to good Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and called on everyone to support the mining company in its efforts to better the lives of people especially in communities where it operates. KCM's Chief Operations Officer, Mr Malcolm Mewett emphasized that the project will focus on three key areas: -Enhancing farming capabilities and food security: improving agricultural practices and increasing access to markets for local farmers. -Improving access to clean water: installing water tanks and improving clean water supply to reduce water-borne diseases. -Promoting environmental preservation: working with local communities to promote environmental conservation through activities such as tree planting.   • Spreading Love and Care! KCM donates to One Way Mission Children’s Home in Chililabombwe Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) Chief Operating Officer Malcolm Mewett yesterday visited One Way Mission Children's Home in Chililabombwe accompanied by the Corporate Social Responsibility Manager, Mr. Brian Siatubi where they donated assorted items worth K118,000. The items donated included food stuff and groceries, mattresses, blankets, clothing and cash to revamp the defunct poultry business that the home used to ran in the past. The chicken run will not only provide the much-needed income for the orphanage, but will also provide life skills training for the children as they raise the chickens and enhance food security as well as support their education. Mr. Mewett said KCM cares for every child and will support the vulnerable children in various communities. "Our goal is to ensure every child feels loved and safe. We’re committed to supporting the most vulnerable in our communities," he said. And One Way Mission Children’s Home Director, Loveness Sakala said she was happy to see KCM back at the Children’s Home with assorted items that will go along way in helping the children. One Way Mission Children's Home shelters 45 orphans and vulnerable children cared for by three dedicated mothers and empowers them through education.
