In another demonstration of its commitment to environmental sustainability and community engagement, ZEDEDA’s Berlin team recently rolled up their sleeves and took to the Spree River for a cleanup initiative. Organized internally by Executive Assistant Queralt Rodriguez, the team partnered with Backstage Tourism, a company dedicated to offering unique and sustainable experiences in Berlin, to embark on a canoe tour with a purpose: collecting debris from the river.
“At ZEDEDA, we believe in giving back to the community and the city,” Queralt said. “Every six months, we organize activities with a positive impact on the communities around us.”
The team’s collaboration with Backstage Tourism ensured they had canoes, a knowledgeable guide, and the logistical support needed to make the cleanup event a success. Despite the hot weather and the physical challenge of paddling, the team enjoyed the unique opportunity to explore the Spree and its boathouses, even catching a glimpse of the iconic Futuro House, a retro prototype home displayed on the riverbank.
While the primary goal was to improve the environment, the event also provided a unique opportunity for sightseeing and fostered camaraderie among team members. Afterward, the team shared pizza and reflected on their participation in the river cleanup, further strengthening their bond as colleagues.
“Most of the team enjoys participating in these events,” Queralt explained. “They appreciate the chance to experience something different outside the office and their daily routine.”
Making a positive global impact
This initiative perfectly reflects ZEDEDA’s dedication to environmental sustainability and giving back to the local community. The positive experience and the opportunity to contribute to a cleaner Berlin undoubtedly left a lasting impression on the team.
ZEDEDA’s commitment to social responsibility extends beyond Berlin. The company organizes similar events near its offices across India and the US, ensuring that its positive impact is felt globally. ZEDEDA’s Bangalore team recently planted 50 trees as part of their ongoing efforts to contribute to a greener and healthier planet.
As ZEDEDA continues to grow, its dedication to fostering a supportive workplace culture and actively engaging in initiatives that benefit both the environment and local communities remains unwavering. The Berlin team’s river cleanup, facilitated by Backstage Tourism’s unique approach to sustainable tourism, is just one example of how ZEDEDA is making a difference, one community at a time.
