  • As an HR professional or business leader, providing insurance to your employees can be a valuable benefit. But have you ever wondered what the difference is between group life and personal life insurance? They aim to serve the same purpose – to provide financial protection to loved ones in the event of your passing. However, there are key differences between the two: 👥Group life insurance: Typically offered by employers as an employee benefit, group life insurance provides a chosen level of coverage, usually a multiple of the employee's salary. 🙌 Personal life insurance: Purchased individually, personal life insurance can provide more comprehensive coverage, allowing you to choose your coverage amount and term. When deciding between group life insurance and personal life insurance, consider the following: 📈Level of coverage: Group life insurance may fall short of providing adequate coverage, particularly if you have dependents. With personal life insurance, you have the flexibility to select a coverage amount tailored to your unique needs. 💰Cost: Group life insurance is often more affordable or even free to the employee, as it's subsidised by the employer. With personal life insurance premiums are paid out-of-pocket, but pricing is tailored to your risk profile. 🎨 Customisation: Personal life insurance offers more flexibility in terms of coverage options and premium payments. 🗒️ Requirements: With group life insurance cover is generally automatic if you’re an employee, with no to minimal underwriting. Personal insurance requires an application and underwriting, including health and lifestyle assessments. 💼 Portability: Personal life insurance policies are portable, meaning you can take it with you if you switch jobs or retire. As an employer, offering group life insurance is a valuable employee benefit. However, it's essential to communicate the differences between group life insurance and personal life insurance to your employees, so they can make informed decisions about their financial protection.

  • As we count down the days to the festive season, many of us are looking forward to a well-deserved break. But let's be real – in today's always-on culture, it's easier said than done to truly disconnect. Slack’s new Festive Season Survey with YouGov of over 2,000 office workers reveals a worrying disconnect between bosses and employees on work expectations during the holiday period. 83% of bosses with leadership responsibilities say they will encourage their employees to switch off during the holiday season. Yet 32% of employees plan to be online and available to work during the holiday season - even when they have time off! After exploring topics of increasing burnout throughout corporate environments, taking time to disconnect can benefit you for the year ahead. Here’s a few tips on how to do it: 🚧 Set clear boundaries with your team and manager before you leave for your break. 📵 Avoid checking work emails or taking work calls unless absolutely necessary. 📚 Engage in activities that bring you joy and help you relax, such as reading, exercise or spending time with loved ones. 🌴 Practise mindfulness, and focus on the present moment. By taking a chance disconnecting this festive season, you'll return to work feeling refreshed, revitalised and ready to tackle new challenges. 🚀 #timeoff #balance #festiveseasonbreak

  • The tough truth about workplace burnout 💔 As high-performing professionals, we often wear our busyness and stress as badges of honour. But the truth is, burnout can creep up on anyone, regardless of their job title or industry. You might not even realise you're burning out until it's too late. NEVER be afraid to ask for help. 📋 Re-evaluate your priorities: Take a step back and assess your work-life balance. • What’s with coffee badging? 🤔 With a shift to hybrid working becoming the norm, the phenomenon of coffee badging has some implications for the workplace. ☕️ Coffee badging refers to employees making brief appearances in the office to meet mandated presence requirements, rather than to engage in meaningful work. This trend is on the rise, with 58% of hybrid workers in the US admitting to coffee badging. The world of hybrid and remote work is exciting, but still relatively new! So when new trends like this emerge it can be challenging as a business or HR function to work through it. But what can HR leaders do about it? 👉 Establish clear policies and expectations around in-office attendance and remote work. 📈 Focus on output and productivity rather than physical presence. 💌 Create meaningful in-office experiences that encourage collaboration and engagement. 💡Monitor and adapt your strategies to address the evolving needs of your workforce. If you’re looking for effective tips on how to combat this trend, visit our blog and find out more! https://lnkd.in/dd2VYnMb

  • Burnout. Many of us have been there.... The exhaustion, the cynicism, the feeling of being completely drained. But did you know that burnout can actually be a catalyst for empowerment in the workplace? In our recent webinar, Head of Marketing for YuLife South Africa - Bernise Games spoke a little more about how employees have to realise that it's not just a negative state - it's also an opportunity to re-evaluate priorities, set healthy boundaries, and discover new paths to success. But first, you need to: 📈Recognise your limits: Burnout forces you to confront the fact that you can't do it all. And that's scary, but liberating. By acknowledging your limits, you can focus on what truly matters and delegate or defer tasks that are not essential. 💗Prioritise self-care: When you're burnt out, you have no choice but to prioritise your own wellbeing. This can lead to healthier habits, stronger relationships, and a greater sense of purpose. 🤔Re-evaluate your passion and purpose: Burnout can prompt you to take a step back and assess whether your current role is truly aligned with your values and goals. This can lead to a more fulfilling career path or a fresh perspective on your current job. It’s time to break the stigma surrounding burnout and start a new conversation about empowerment, vulnerability, and the power of prioritising wellbeing.
