Global Study Tour update. This week one of our MBA cohorts had a fantastic time in Miami, known as the “Cruise Capital of the World”. They enjoyed great presentations on infrastructure development and trade, by the board of directors at the Miami-Dade International Trade Consortium; then went off to discuss international business at Florida International University - College of Business. After that, it was all about public health at Jackson Memorial Hospital – a top trauma unit that trains the US military. WBS is proud of the calibre of our Advisory Board Members!   Introducing Adam Craker, CEO at IQBusiness, the largest South African management and technology consulting firm and a majority-owned subsidiary of JSE-listed Reunert Group, since July 2023. Following the merger of IQbusiness with +OneX in 2024, Adam is now the CEO of the merged business with approximately 1 500 team members.    As an ‘activist CEO’, Adam is an ardent lobbyist for government and business collaboration, though he places the emphasis on education as the key ingredient to drive an inclusive future for all South Africans. Adam has forged strong partnerships with various non-profit companies in leadership positions as the CEO of the Covid Business Rescue Assistance (COBRA) initiative; CEO of SAtion, the 4IR initiative in partnership with Business Unity South Africa; and more recently as a Director of Jozi My Jozi, the super-connector ecosystem designed to bring hope and instil pride back into the city of Johannesburg.   Under Adam’s stewardship, IQbusiness won the coveted 2018 Conscious Companies Award. Actions aligned to its purpose – which is to grow people, grow business and grow Africa – have resulted in IQbusiness being recognised as a Certified B Corporation, and positions Adam and his team as leaders in a new social narrative.     #WitsBusinessSchool

We were honoured to welcome to WBS today the Turkish Ambassador to South Africa, H.E. Ayşegül Kandaş, to celebrate 30 years of diplomatic and trade relations between Türkiye and South Africa. The event featured an insightful panel discussion with Mr Abubekir Salim, Chairman of the Turkey-South Africa Business Council; Professor Imhotep Alagidede from WBS, and Ms Hawa Bibi Khan, business leader and founder of the Habika Investment Trust, along with moderator Mills Soko, Professor of International Business and Strategy at WBS. The discussion focused on strengthening economic ties and exploring collaborative opportunities between our two nations. Thank you to our partners Wits School of Governance and the Maarif Center for Turkish Studies for making this event such a success!
