Access the most recent fund factsheet for a comprehensive analysis of the Sesfikile BCI Property Fund's performance, strategy, and mandate, along with insightful investment commentary for March 2024. Highlights for the month include; Listed property experienced a slight decline in March (-0.58%), underperforming equities (+3.2%) but outperforming bonds (-2.02%), as global bond yields rose amid concerns of prolonged higher rates. Bonds struggled after global bond yields rose as market participants feared that rates would stay “higher for longer” in the face of sticky inflation prints and a US economy that is showing little signs of slowing down. Shaftesbury emerged as the top performer (+15.9%), followed by Hammerson (+12.3%) and Attacq (+11.2%). Hyprop faced challenges (-6.4%) due to concerns about its primary tenant Pick 'n Pay and weakness in the Naira, resulting in postponed dividends and guidance downgrade, though the severity of Pick 'n Pay's impact is debatable.
