We are thrilled to announce that the first online interactive ISO 37000 Lead Corporate Governance Manager certification course will take place 2 - 5 December 2024. The course also addresses ISO 37004 Governance of organisations - Governance maturity model - Guidance. You may ask the question why ISO 37000 was developed as South Africa for instance has the KING IV Corporate Governance Code and many other countries also they own. The reason is that, especially in Africa, there is a huge emphasis on the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) that promotes economic and other relations amongst Africa countries, but also abroad. \That will require good governance - amongst other things. Organisations in South Africa can hardly enforce King IV on another African country - and this is where ISO 37000 is useful as an International Standard best practice that all could align to as part of their international engagement. The ISO 37000 Lead Corporate Governance Certification course will be an interactive online course, but a self-study option is also available that could be taken any time. Please note that it is individual certification in terms of competence only as there is not an organisational certification option. Suddenly a disaster strikes as the car’s AI fails to distinguish a semi-truck ahead, resulting in a fatal accident. This scenario that occurred in Florida on March 2019 highlights the potential dangers of reliance on AI in autonomous vehicles. Yet, in October 2023, researchers from the University Medical Center Utrecht, developed a deep learning algorithm; a form of AI, to identify brain tumours, speeding up diagnosis which now goes on potentially save millions of lives. These contradicting realities – disaster and lifesaving – depict our complex dance with AI.
