Young Leaders Connect - IDEAL reposted this
When one chapter ends - a new one begins! ✨👏🏾🫶🏽 For as long as you are still breathing - it’s not over! 💫 In January 2023 I was handed down a baton to lead the charge to be at the forefront of developing the next generation of ethical women leaders under the mandate of the International Women’s Forum of South Africa through their leadership development program Young Leaders Connect - IDEAL - and boy did I run fiercely with this baton. With all of my heart, all of soul, all of my might - I gave myself wholly to this cause. Leading people is not easy - but when you are driven by passion and purpose - it becomes a different ball game. When you realise that it is not about you - but the peoples whose lives are being impacted because of your service. I believe with all of my heart - that “to lead is to serve” - to show up everyday and say how can I make it better for the next person, how can I impart my knowledge and skills, how can I contribute positively towards humanity, to live for a cause that is bigger that myself. And YLC - IDEAL has been exactly that for me. Over the last two years serving in this organisation together with the executive committee of fierce women leaders who are intentional about paying it forward we have made great, great strides! ✅More than 300 women have been mentored and developed for leadership 🚀More than 200 women have been trained for board leadership with board programs such as Business Engage board masterclass and Boardvisory board simulations 🎤 More than 50 thought leadership conversations have been held with industry leaders 📚 More than 15 authors have been engaged as part of the book club 💴 More than R300 000 has been awarded to women owned businesses as part of our entrepreneurship programme 🏫 More than 2000 learners have been reached in schools in previously disadvantaged communities as part of our career drive initiatives 🧑🏾🎓 More than 5 universities have been reached as part of our student chapter initiatives l 💰 More than R10m has been raised to support our initiatives over the next 3 years 🔈 Our annual IDEAL leadership summit has seen more than 1000 delegates attend in person and attracted more than 50 renown thought leaders under the theme #embracingequity and #empoweringthefuture 🥇 more than 50 women have been recognised for their stellar contributions in society and various spheres of was part of the IDEAL awards And many other things in between! 👏🏾🙌🏽✨ I leave this organisation richer for this experience. I have come into my own & unlocked my purpose because of this process. I know myself so much better than I did 2 years ago. My growth is palpable and it has been amazing to watch me evolve into the person God has called me to be! ♥️ CHARMAINE HOUVET & Tryphosa Ramano - thank you for entrusting me with this massive responsibility! 💫 This is not goodbye, I love YLC so much. 🫶🏽 Good luck to the team as they continue on the journey ahead! What a joyride 🥂 #lifechanginglerato
