We are proud to have represented Arena Holdings and amaBhungane in a landmark Supreme Court of Appeal ruling delivered on 4 December 2024. The court dismissed Steinhoff's appeal to block the release of the full PwC forensic report detailing accounting irregularities, fraud, and financial misstatements at the global retail giant. This ruling affirms the public’s right to transparency and sets a precedent for accountability in corporate misconduct. The court held that the public interest far outweighed Steinhoff's efforts to claim privilege over the report and ordered its disclosure. Congratulations to our team, led by Dario Milo, Odwa Abraham, Kuhle Mavuso, Michelle Morris, and Lesedi Mathumetse, with counsel Wim Trengrove SC, Ingrid Cloete, and Pranisha Maharaj-Pillay.
