On 29 November 2024, the Minster of Home Affairs gazetted a notice extending the validity period of Zimbabwean Exemption Permits (“ZEPs”) for a further 12 months until 28 November 2025. All existing ZEPs shall therefore be deemed to be valid for the next (12) twelve months and holders will be allowed to remain and be employed in South Africa. Current ZEP holders who have already applied for waivers and for other mainstream visas will also be allowed to remain and be employed in South Africa, until they receive the outcome of their applications.
