About us

SER members are bringing restoration to every corner of the earth For more than three decades, the Society for Ecological Restoration (SER) has given voice to the field of ecological restoration and provided leadership in all aspects of its development. We are a dynamic global network of over 5,000 members from 100+ countries who foster the exchange of knowledge and expertise among ecological restoration practitioners and scientists from diverse disciplines and backgrounds. In addition to communicating leading-edge tools, technologies and scientific findings, SER actively promotes best practices and effective restoration policy around the world. We are working to ensure that ecological restoration is recognized and utilized as a fundamental component of global conservation, biodiversity and sustainable development programs, and that ecological restoration projects are designed and implemented in a way that provides people with the opportunity to not only repair ecological damage, but also improve the human condition.

  • Brian Kyalo student representative at SER Africa and founder of Asili Generation showcasing the work they are heading over at the Asili Nurseries. These are samples of different trees that will be used in the restoration of the Nairobi river more work is to be done for the Nurseries to be upscaled and getting more varieties of seeds and fruit seedlings too.☺️ We do believe that allocation of what we get will play a big role in Asili being recognized as the leading organization in supporting the restoration of the Nairobi River and other place in Kenya that will need our Trees 👏 Well done Bryan and his team at @Asili Generation we look forward to seeing more of the work you are doing in Nairobi, Kenya. Proudly in collaboration with SER Africa.

  • Africa NCA Community of Practice Webinar Series   CAPTURING THE VALUE OF NATURE IN AFRICAN DEVELOPMENT FINANCE FOR GREEN GROWTH AND CLIMATE RESILIENCE   DATE: Thursday 28 November 2024 TIME: 11:00 - 12:30 UTC / 12:00 - 13:30 CET / 13:00 – 14:30 CAT/14:00 - 15:30 EAT / 08:00 - 9:30 EST    Register to join online: https://lnkd.in/eagXq_2s   Presented by AfDB, GGKP, UNEP-WCMC, WWF and CSF   Description:   Since 2020, the AfDB, the Green Growth Knowledge Partnership and the Worldwide Fund for Nature have joined hands to promote the mainstreaming of natural capital in African development finance. Throughout the last few years, under the flag of the Natural Capital for African Development Finance Initiative (NC4-ADF), various approaches and tools for integrating natural capital into development finance operations have been tested and documented. These efforts have been joined and supported by a range of partner organizations, including the Africa Union Commission (AUC), the MAVA Foundation, GIZ, the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD), the World Resources Institute (WRI), the UN Environment Programme World Conservation Monitoring Centre (UNEP-WCMC) and the Conservation Strategy Fund (CSF).   There is no doubt that tackling the existential crisis of biodiversity loss and climate change in the world today requires the need to increase protection of, and investment in natural capital. In the last few years, we have seen a growing interest from diverse actors including the finance sector to respond adequately to these crises through the putting in place of interesting initiatives like the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosure (TNFD), and the MDB Common Principles for tracking nature-positive finance drawn from the Joint Statement by the Multilateral Development Banks on Nature, People and Planet. These actions demonstrate that finance can be a powerful lever for change.   Outcomes: Webinar slides and recording will be made available to all participants and NCA CoP members after the event. Contact: Leonah Mbonimpa at [email protected].
