About us
Poptart Creatives was launched by Lauren Chowles, an all-round creative with a passion for helping others. Lauren hosts regular workshops which focus on rediscovering our innate creativity, reconnecting with the self, and learning to find joy through creating. In addition, Poptart Creatives is available for private paint parties/events including team building, birthdays, kitchen teas, and more. When she's not hosting workshops and events, Lauren is an artist who creates and sells a variety of her own works, from abstract and textured art to upcycled clothing, printed items, and hand painted gifts.

Last week was intense as I set the plans in motion to set up my small home studio space. Five days of moving furniture, stripping, painting, and organsing with the help of my nearest and dearest... And it was worth EVERY minute (and all the Fibro aches)! On Saturday I held my first workshop there for 3 special ladies. What an incredibly special and exciting day 😍 This was a more intimate version of my upcoming "Expressions of Joy" workshop happening at the DIY Craft Bar in Noordhoek (29th October). The goal is to help others reconnect with their creativity and joy whilst learning to let go of expected outcomes. Far beyond art, the ability to connect to our creative brain, tap into our joy, and let go are vital in every day life. Below are some pictures of the day. The LEGO Braille Bricks (LBB) project is a playful methodology that aims to teach braille to children who are blind and visually impaired using LEGO. Each colourful brick is moulded with studs that correspond to numbers and letters in the braille alphabet and also include a corresponding printed symbol or letter. The innovative project is spearheaded by the LEGO Foundation, in partnership with the University of Cape Town’s (UCT) Including Disability Education in Africa (IDEA), BlindSA and four schools for the blind in the Western Cape and Gauteng. Currently in an extended pilot phase, the initiative aims to level the playing field between sighted and blind children because it allows them to play and learn simultaneously. https://lnkd.in/dkn24mfY

95 year old Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama has a fascinating story and I loved this glimpse into her studio and life ❤ She started creating at a young age but her inspiration really came in her later childhood when she started experiencing vivid hallucinations. These allowed her to escape a traumatic family life and her own mind, and became the foundation of her subject matter.
