Mpact Recycling is the collection arm of Mpact that drives the circular economy.
About us
As the leading waste collector in South Africa, Mpact Recycling, part of the Mpact Group collects and receives approximately 600,000 tonnes of recyclables per annum. This includes recovered paper, cardboard, plastic, glass and cans. All recovered paper material is supplied to our Mpact paper mills to be manufactured back into paper. This is then used to manufacture innovative board products, which are sold to the South African packaging industry. Other collected materials are sold to other recycling industry partners for processing into products and packaging. We have 14 of our own operations in major centres nationwide and have partnered with over 40 buy-back centres who supply their waste paper and plastic to us for remuneration; as well as working with numerous suppliers countrywide. Thus giving us a national footprint. Our recycling footprint doesn't end there, we also acquired Remade in 2016. We run numerous collection programmes via residential estates and offices - not only do these initiatives raise recycling awareness and create income opportunities but push recycling levels to new heights. It’s part of our mission to develop practical, economically viable and environmentally sustainable solutions that bring us, and the world, closer to a true circular economy.

The holiday season approaches 🎄. Before you know it, everyone will be on a well-deserved break – even us! However, we're happy to report that all branches will remain open except on public holidays. (16th, 25th, 26th, and New Year's Day) And remember: trash takes no days off, so please keep recycling. Happy festive! #MpactRecycling #FestiveSeason #Recycle #Sustainability #HolidayPlanning #ClosingDates #HolidaySchedule

✨ Wouldn’t it be great if paper waste took the festive season off? 🎄🎁 Unfortunately, trash doesn't take a holiday, and paper waste can pile up quickly this time of year. 📦🗑️ From wrapping paper to cards, remember to recycle your paper responsibly. ♻️ Let’s turn this season of giving into a season of recycling. 🌍💚 #MpactRecycling #RecyclePaper #HolidaySustainability #EcoFriendlyFestivities #NoDaysOff

How will you keep sorting, recycling, and staying sustainable amidst the relaxation and celebrations of the festive season? 🎉 Our theme for December is trash takes No Days Off. 🗑️ It serves to remind us that even as we close out the year, our landfills and waste management systems will face even greater strain. Please remain as motivated and as committed to recycling and the circular economy as you were in January, earlier this year. 💪🌍♻️ And enjoy the rest of 2024! 🎊🌟 #MpactRecycling #FestiveSeason #Recycle #Sustainability #NoDaysOff

During high shopping periods, such as the holiday season or sales events, businesses often experience a surge in packaging and waste. At Mpact Recycling, we encourage companies to adopt sustainable waste management practices that not only enhance operational efficiency but also contribute to environmental responsibility. Here are a few ways businesses can manage waste sustainably during these busy times: ▪️Implement recycling programmes: Ensure that all packaging materials - such as paper, cardboard, cans and plastics—are collected and recycled. ▪️Choose sustainable packaging: Opt for recyclable or eco-friendly materials when packaging products. ▪️Educate staff and customers: Promote awareness about proper recycling practices and encourage customers to return or recycle packaging. By taking these steps, your retail business can minimise waste, boost sustainability, and improve your operational impact. We were honoured to welcome GIBS Business School (Gordon Institute of Business Science) and SOUL learners to our Randburg branch, marking a significant step in nurturing the next generation of eco-entrepreneurs. It's partnerships like these that empower and inspire real change.
This past weekend marked a special milestone as GIBS Business School (Gordon Institute of Business Science) joined forces with @SOUL and Mpact Limited to ignite a brighter future for the youth of Etsoseng township. Together, we launched technical training for aspiring eco-entrepreneurs—empowering them to become tomorrow’s recyclers, job creators, and champions of micro eco-businesses. Through the GIBS Sustainability, Impact & Circular Economy (SICE) initiative, we remain committed to uplifting young women and men from disadvantaged communities. By partnering with business, government, and scientific stakeholders, we aim to nurture sustainable enterprises that not only transform lives but also safeguard our planet for generations to come. This journey is about more than just opportunity; it’s about hope, collaboration, and creating a cleaner, greener world—one step at a time. Thank you, Neissan A. Besharati, PhD, for championing this initiative. #PRME #GreenFuture #ClimateAction #CircularEconomy #SDG

We often discuss the Circular Economy but there’s another concept that’s equally important – the Blue Economy. The Circular Economy is all about minimising waste by keeping materials in use for as long as possible. This is where Mpact Recycling plays a key role: we ensure that products like plastics and paper are recycled and reintroduced into the economy, reducing waste and preserving resources. On the other hand, the Blue Economy focuses on the sustainable use of ocean resources for economic growth, improved livelihoods, and ocean health. It's about balancing the benefits we draw from the ocean – like fishing, tourism, and renewable energy – while preserving its natural resources for future generations. Both the Blue and Circular Economies aim to create long-term sustainability by protecting resources – whether land-based or marine. Visit our blog for more insights into how these two important models work hand in hand with our recycling efforts: https://brnw.ch/21wOJE9. #MpactRecycling #BlueEconomy #CircularEconomy #Sustainability #OceanConservation #Recycling
