About us
The Masisizane Fund is a non-profit funding entity. The fund is an Old Mutual initiative that was established in 2007 in consultation with the National Treasury of South Africa following the closure of the Unclaimed Share Schemes Trust. The Masisizane Fund was established with the belief that economic empowerment, through sustainable enterprise development, is crucial for South Africa’s commercial success. Our main goal is to aid SMMEs to establish and grow their businesses to, in turn, reduce poverty, inequality, and unemployment. With our sector-agnostic approach, we offer more than just access to finance, we also provide business support/advice to guarantee success.

Lessons for entrepreneurs: Investor readiness is more than just a great idea, it’s about preparation, strategy, and demonstrating value. A clear value proposition is essential, investors need to quickly understand what makes your product or service unique. Take the time to develop a strong pitch, know your market, and align with what investors seek’. Our Head of Investment, Thabang Hleza was part of a panel on investor readiness facilitated by Bruce Whitfield. This took place at the South African Future Trust Summit 2024, where we also hosted our exhibition and information stand. We had the opportunity to engage meaningfully with SMEs and stakeholders, sharing our offerings and insights into the SME ecosystem. One of the highlights was a compelling discussion on common mistakes entrepreneurs make when seeking investment – and, more importantly, how to avoid them. It was a fantastic experience to share insights and connect with such inspiring entrepreneurs. Masisizane Fund continues to strive for sustainable growth and investment in SMEs. #BusinessFunding #SAFutureTrustSummit2024
