I had the honor of attending the Assagai Awards, and what an evening it was! As a special IAB South Africa Front Row guest, I got to witness some of the best work in integrated direct marketing being celebrated. For me sharing a table with the newly appointed Kate Kitz and Merissa Himraj of GroupM Sub-Saharan Africa. It’s always inspiring to be around leaders shaping the future of our industry—it felt like a glimpse into what’s possible when leadership and vision come together. A moment that stood out was seeing Triple Eight take home the Nkosi Award. As an all-women agency, their win represents so much progress for our industry and the direction we’re moving in—something worth celebrating! And let’s not forget Nina Hastie as the MC! She had the entire room laughing non-stop, proving that comedians really are the best at making even the most uncomfortable truths land perfectly. The Assigai Awards reminded me why we do what we do: to create work that delivers real impact. Here’s to everyone who walked away with an award - and to those who continue striving to make waves in our industry. I’m already looking forward to the next awards I’ll be attending soon—an evening dedicated to honouring South Africa’s finest indigenous language creative work. #AssegaiAwards2024 #InteractiveMarketing #CelebratingExcellence #MarketingInnovation #MarketingExcellence #DMASA
