A trig beacon is a structure that is used to protect a trig (fixed survey station) making it visible from a distance. It is usually colored in white and blank. It is important to note that not all trig stations have trig beacons. A trig station is usually set up and maintained by the government with its known coordinates and elevation published. The trigs are usually placed atop hills or mountains for easier visibility and form a triangulation network. Surveys for all roads, railways, bridges, land boundaries, and other infrastructure projects are usually referenced to the local trig networks. Some temporary localized trig stations can be set up on construction or development sites for monitoring the precision and progress of construction. Even though many surveying tasks no longer need stations, hikers still find them helpful for navigation. Trig points, also known as Triangulation Pillars, serve as a method for identifying the summit of a mountain on a map. A small triangle usually represents a trig point on maps.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: • Executing and supervising all flights and maintenance activities at the site of operation which includes conducting thorough preparation to fly a drone, completing the relevant docu- mentation and accurate flight planning processes. • Accountable for the safe operation of each drone e.g., conduct a risk assessment before flying the drone etc. • Conduct aerial surveying using a drone. • Process flight data (Pix4D), and complete Documentation. • Submitting flight and maintenance documentation, inclusive of all flight operational documents per flight • Processing of accurate and timeous data and delivering quality professional services to our clients • Traveling between sites (on request from the operations Department) • Maintaining a high level of compliance with the SACAA regulations and requirements by aligning all documentation and processes to the company’s ROM Operations Manual) • Being a brand ambassador for the company MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: • 21 years of age or older • Grade 12 (matric certificate) • Valid SACAA RPL. • #BVLOS (Beyond Visual Line of Sight) • DGI & MP • #VTOL experience beneficial. • Previous survey experiences beneficial. • Fixed Wing experience is beneficial. • #multirotor experience (M300, Mavic) • Driver’s license (Code 08) • reliable vehicle • Must be able to pass a medical examination (SACAA Class 4 Medical Certificate) • Fluent in English (verbal and written) • Willing to relocate, if required • An aviation and/or surveying background would be advantageous.
