  • I am privileged to write the following on E-NATIS Fraud and Cross Border Vehicle Crime Investigations. Joint effort between SAPS Border Police Groblersbrug and Modi-Mole SAPS VIS Unit. With continuous collaboration with SAPS Border Police at different Ports of Entry into SADC the success of such intelligence, modus operandi and suspects involved in the smuggling of High-End vehicles cross border are bearing fruits. The Groblersbrug SAPS Border Police intercepted the Toyota Hilux LDV Double Cab trying to enter into Botswana. The Title Holder was unlawfully removed on the E-NaTIS Registration system. A foreigner was registered as Title Holder and Owner. This foreigner is a subject of several Cross Border Vehicle Crime investigations with a specific Modus Operandi. Several Cross Border Crime Cases were registered where he is a suspect. He and another person were arrested by the Groblersbrug SAPS Border Police. The Modi-Mole SAPS VIS Unit  was called in and they run with the investigation. The long and short, they opposed bail and the suspect was found guilty as charged and sentenced seven (7) years direct imprisonment without an option of a fine. This foreigner can start to stand trial on all his outstanding vehicle cross border smuggling cases. A major breakthrough on these matters. FICS can only praise the SAPS officers/ investigators involved. Well, done awesome work executed with dedication and commitment. FICS salute the SAPS members involved. Thank you!!

  • Training is absolute an investment: Vehicle stop at 05:00 this morning at a Border Post, preventing to leave the RSA. False documents presented to the SAPS Border Police. Received a phone call to assist. The modus operandi regarding the documentation, very clever, but not clever enough. Learn again. The end result. I am very proud on the SAPS member with the detection. Exactly what I told them in the training, just awesome!! Training is crucial for equipping individuals with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in their roles, especially in fields like law enforcement where vigilance and expertise are paramount.

  • Positive outcome on the cross border vehicle crime training at Beitbridge Border Post. PURCHASED, DRIVEN, STOLEN: On Thursday evening the 1st of August at 20:30 the author received a phone call from the vehicle check point at Beitbridge Border Post. One of the members that attend the training session explained to the author they followed exactly what the author teaches them in class, and they detect a problem with a vehicle and need assistance and support. In short, the author helps, and an absolute success was secured and illustrate exactly the author’s point explained in class. The following vehicle (Photo attached) was confiscated, and the driver arrested. The above-mentioned vehicle was purchased and financed by one of the four major Financial Institutions on 2024-06-29, R683 300. Not a single installment paid to the VAF account. On 2024-07-25 the vehicle was registered as Title Holder and Owner in the customer’s name. Five days there after the vehicle was at Beitbridge Border Post to leave the RSA with the newly RC1 Registration Authority obtained. The facts gathered on Thursday evening confirms the current modus operandi and the situation the Financial Institutions facing regarding cross border vehicle crime. The training was spot on. The author received exceptionally good feedback about the training.
