South Africa’s GBV crisis is an everyday tragedy. Every 3 hours, a woman is murdered. 11 women are killed daily, and 7.8 million have suffered physical or sexual violence. These shocking numbers reflect years of neglect and underfunding of the National Strategic Plan on GBV and Femicide. Survivors are left without support, and perpetrators roam free. We demand action 365 days a year—not just 16 days of lip service. It’s time to create safer communities for all women and children.

🚨 No more lip service—real action is needed NOW! The DA demands year-round action to tackle GBV and protect women and children: ✅ Legislative action to ensure clear accountability. ✅ Oversight to expose failures & offer practical solutions. ✅ Whole-of-Society engagement to support survivors. ✅ Community engagement to provide grassroots education to break the cycle of violence. Every woman and child has the right to live in a safe, fear-free society. The government must act!

🚨 Today, the DA attended the NERSA public hearing in Mpumalanga to say NO to Eskom’s proposed 40% tariff hike! Families should not have to choose between food and electricity due to Eskom’s years of mismanagement and corruption. We’ve submitted our objections and call for sustainable solutions to the energy crisis. Join the fight by signing our petition here: stoppowergrab.da.org.za. #StopElectricityHikes #StopPowerGrab

📌 The DA is committed to fighting gender-based violence every day of the year, not just 16 Days of Activism! DA Leader John Steenhuisen visited a safe house for GBV survivors in Stellenbosch, Western Cape, where he donated gardening tools to support food gardening initiatives. Through a whole-of-society approach, we can work to prevent GBV, support survivors, and ensure safer communities for all.
