CIGRE Southern Africa, Women In Energy hosted an inspirational breakfast yesterday at The Venue, Melrose Arch. The chairman, Mr Sidwell Mtetwa, emphasised the greater need to focus on building a solid foundation to ensure a stable and sustainable future. WiE is creating that vehicle to solidify the foundation and encourage women participation today and in the future. The highlight of the event was a keynote address by Chris Kennedy. She is incredible and phenomenal. My takeaway from her presentation was, “it’s not what happens to you that matters, but what you do with what happens to you.” We all have aspirations and dreams, yet, some never get to fruition.. why? What is holding you? Thank you so much to the chairman for gracing us with his presence, Chris for sharing with us her story, the panellist, moderator, program director, talented DJ KD and organisers! A previous study highlighted the value of interconnection between continents for more efficient implementation of wind and solar power. An extension study has refined modelling assumptions based on CIGRE community feedback. It has also enriched decarbonizing options for interconnection, storage, and demand response. The scope also covers trading rules and governance issues.
