📢 Announcement : article released in Electra, the CIGRE magazine - Global Interconnected and sustainable electricity system Following an initial pre-feasibility study on the global power grid concept, which highlighted the value of interconnections between continents for more efficient implementation of wind and solar power worldwide, an extension was carried out to consider alternative solutions such as storage and demand response. In addition, the commercial rules and governance issues of a global grid have been added to the scope.

CIGRE Southern Africa, Women In Energy hosted an inspirational breakfast yesterday at The Venue, Melrose Arch. The chairman, Mr Sidwell Mtetwa, emphasised the greater need to focus on building a solid foundation to ensure a stable and sustainable future. WiE is creating that vehicle to solidify the foundation and encourage women participation today and in the future. The highlight of the event was a keynote address by Chris Kennedy. She is incredible and phenomenal. My takeaway from her presentation was, “it’s not what happens to you that matters, but what you do with what happens to you.” We all have aspirations and dreams, yet, some never get to fruition.. why? What is holding you? Thank you so much to the chairman for gracing us with his presence, Chris for sharing with us her story, the panellist, moderator, program director, talented DJ KD and organisers! The event was absolutely amazing! #BeYou_DoYou #Goals #EnergyInWomen #WomenInEnergy Khayakazi Dioka Pr Eng Jana Breedt (Pr Eng) Mantsie Patience Hlakudi GCC(Factories),Pr.Eng,MSAIEE,MCIGRE, Rising Star Michelle Govender Christina Magabe Tumi Modise Pr.
