Updates

  • We’re excited to share that SAMRO (Southern African Music Rights Organisation), a valued supporter of ARMC over the past years, is officially opening its Music Creation Support Fund (MCSF)! Since 2021, the MCSF has empowered music creators by offering micro-grants to Full and Associate Members, enabling the creation of new and original works. This initiative fuels innovation, supports artistic development, and helps bring creative visions to life. What Does SAMRO Do? SAMRO is the leading music rights organization in Southern Africa. It manages the collection and distribution of music royalties on behalf of composers, authors, and publishers. By licensing music usage across various platforms, SAMRO ensures that creators are fairly compensated, allowing them to focus on their craft.
If you are a SAMRO member, you can now apply for the MCSF and let SAMRO help you turn your musical ideas into reality! #MusicSupport #SAMRO #CreativeFunding #MusicInnovation #OriginalMusic #MusicRights #MusicCreators #Royalties #SupportingArtists Monde Mtyolo

In a world where societal norms and taboos often dictate discussions around sexuality, I moderated a panel at the Africa Rising Music Conference that seeked to challenge conventional narratives by exploring the transformative power of music and representation. Through a dynamic discussion featuring artists, activists, and industry insiders, attendees delved into how music serves as a catalyst for reshaping perceptions, breaking barriers, and fostering inclusivity within the realm of sexuality. From subverting stereotypes to amplifying marginalized voices, panelists shared personal experiences and insights on how they navigate the intersection of music and sexuality to drive social change. Through thought-provoking dialogue and engaging anecdotes, participants gained a deeper understanding of the role that music plays in challenging societal norms, promoting diversity, and empowering individuals to embrace their authentic selves. Thank you TRACE who was the media partner for the VIP section where my panel was.

  • As an independent conference, brand collaborations are what allows our vision to come to life. Jägermeister has been a vital supporter of emerging talent on our journey. Their backing helped create an unforgettable electronic night last year, featuring rising stars like KMAT_dj. Watching KMAT evolve from our event to making waves on the global stages such as AfroNation and many more has been truly inspiring! 🌍✨ This journey reminds us of the importance of creating platforms that elevate emerging talent and connect them to global opportunities. Watching these rising stars tour internationally fills us with immense pride. A massive thank you to Jägermeister UK for being a crucial part of this story! We can't wait to see what 2025 holds in store for KMAT! • Spotify Wrapped has become a global phenomenon, turning user data into stories that we all love to share. But here’s something you might not know: the idea came from Jewel H. an intern at Spotify. Her creativity completely changed how the platform connects with its users and built a marketing moment that millions look forward to every year. At Africa Rising Music Conference, we believe in celebrating the unsung heroes—the people behind the scenes whose ideas shape industries and create cultural moments. Jewel’s story is a powerful reminder that great ideas can come from anyone, at any level, and that it’s up to all of us to make sure those voices are heard and recognized. We love the Spotify Wrapped Campaign! How about you?! #AfricaRising #CelebrateCreativity

  • The music industry is shifting in exciting ways, with independents now taking the lead. In 2023, independent artists and labels accounted for nearly half of Spotify’s total payouts—$4.5 billion, a massive jump from just a few years ago. This proves that the power is moving away from the majors and into the hands of creators and smaller labels making waves on global platforms. It’s an inspiring moment for anyone who believes in the power of music to connect, innovate, and grow beyond traditional boundaries. Here in South Africa, we’re sitting on a goldmine of untapped potential. Our music industry grew by 19.9% in 2023, contributing an incredible 77% of Sub-Saharan Africa’s total revenue. Local genres like Amapiano are not just thriving—they’re leading the global stage. With so much happening, now is the time for international brands, artists, and festivals to get involved. Join us at our conference to explore South Africa’s this untapped potential and get inspired!! Start planning for May 2025 now if you are traveling from offshore. Get in touch with our team if you require any support! 🎉

#AfricaRising at Reeperbahn Festival 🌍✨🎤 As a partially introverted person, I've never been comfortable speaking in front of large public crowds or on camera. I've always felt that my actions should speak louder than my personal branding. But in a world where marketing often prioritises buzzy #storytelling over authentic #storycreating*, I'm truly grateful for heartfelt partners who encourage me to step out of my comfort zone behind the scenes 💫📸 Thanks again to lovely Namakau, Jules, Sarah and Africa Rising Music Conference for this amazing collaboration! Can't wait to see what comes next! ❤️ * I love talking and dancing with my hands! ☺️💁♀️
