When Restless Legs Syndrome or RLS steals your sleep, try these do-it-yourself tips to get some relief. Give your muscles R&R. Massage your legs, or take a hot bath. Speaking of heat, you can also use a heating pad to soothe your symptoms. Ice packs may work, too. Alternate using both if it feels good.
Another good way to ease RLS symptoms-- get regular exercise. But don't work out intensely or too late in the day. And before you go to bed, relax with yoga or meditation to ease stress.
What won't help you feel better-- caffeine and alcohol. So cut back on both. And if you smoke, quit. If these tips don't work, reach out to your doctor. She has treatments that can help you feel better.
