Not ew, David! You finally have an excuse to embrace your inner severely sculptural queen! To cap off its final season, Schitt’s Creek will be holding a wardrobe sale beginning today at noon, with hundreds of the show’s incredible clothing items, accessories, and shoes available to purchase for whoever initiates their trigger fingers first. Hosted by VSP Consignment (a store close to where Schitt’s Creek films in Canada), the sale will partially benefit GLSEN, an educational organization that works to create and foster LGBTQ-inclusive schools. We’d be failing you as a pop-culture website, though, if we didn’t personally mention the sale’s headlining event: the collection of dresses Moira Rose (Catherine O’Hara) has worn throughout the series, which includes everything from the striped monochromatic, to the sequined monochromatic, to the splattered monochromatic, to the titular crow costume. There’s also a good deal of David’s (Dan Levy) signature graphic sweatshirts and hoodies, as well as Alexis’s (Annie Murphy) bohemian frocks and headpieces. No wigs, sadly.
In an interview with Vulture last year, Levy said the main style inspiration for O’Hara’s character came from socialite Daphne Guinness. “When Catherine first signed onto the show, I met with her to discuss what she thought the character would wear and how she carried herself,” he told us. “We collectively thought, This is a really great jumping-off point. But how do you translate someone like Daphne Guinness, who wears couture on the streets of London and New York, into a character on television who’s slightly more palatable and easy to grasp?” The resulting Moira lewks still aren’t cheap to buy (we’d say the average sale price is around $500), but, really, it’s a better deal than guzzling down some musk melon fruit wine.
