“I will probably faint, but it’s so cool,” said first-time Met Gala attendee Priyanka Chopra of the custom Ralph Lauren look she wore to the event on Monday. The Indian actress was a newbie at Golden Globes this year too, where she donned a head-turning custom piece by the American brand—a glittering gold dress with a plunging neckline that recalled a Studio 54 kind of glamour.
Chopra and Lauren had more classic reference points in mind for the Museum’s annual ball this past Monday and used the classic elegance of Katharine Hepburn as a jumping-off point. The resulting trench coat was given an avant-garde twist thanks to a dramatic train which required four hands to get out of the lobby of her hotel. But Chopra, who punctuated her look with Jennifer Fisher jewelry, didn’t let her train stop her from dancing the night away. The floor-sweeping trench cleverly converted into a minidress for Katy Perry’s Boom Boom Bash and Rihanna’s epic late-night party.
