22-year-old rapper meets the 81-year-old woman he befriended on Words With Friends
How many points is "awwwwwww"?
A tweet posted Friday from 22-year-old Spencer Sleyon of Maryland sets the scene:
"Last summer i randomly met this 80 y/o woman on words with friends. we played 300+ games together and she actually ended up becoming a good friend of mine," wrote Sleyon, a musician and rapper. "Today I got to go to Florida and meet her in person."
What follows is an array of photos of Sleyon and retiree Rosalind Guttmann, his now-81-year-old opponent on the Scrabble-inspired online game Words With Friends.
The game paired the two together last June, the Washington Post reported, when Guttman opened their rivalry with the word "p-h-a-t." Since then, the two have competed in more than 300 games.
Amy Butler, a New York City pastor and the mother of one of Sleyon's friends, found inspiration in the story. She offered him a trip down to Florida to meet his in-game rival and friend.
By Thursday evening, the two were embracing in the lobby of a hotel in Palm Beach, where Guttman lives in a retirement community
"Sweet day today with Spencer and his #wordswithfriends friend, Roz, watching them bond in person for the first time," Butler tweeted on Friday.
"Relationships change us," she added in hashtag form.
