The University of Calgary in Qatar's NURS 506 Clinical Exploratory Practicum Mini-Conference brought theory and practice together as sixty-six fourth-year nursing students presented insights from their clinical placements. The event showcased their growth as learners into emerging professionals ready to serve Qatar's healthcare system.

The conference featured twenty students delivering seven oral presentations, while forty-six others engaged visitors through fifteen interactive booth displays. These presentations and displays highlighted their clinical experiences across a variety of specialties, including emergency medicine, operating theatres, paediatrics, neonatal care, cardiac units, orthopaedic sports medicine, labour and delivery, intensive care, dialysis, and home health services. Through engaging and interactive presentations, this conference provided a platform for students to share valuable insights and practical application of knowledge gained throughout their clinical rotation.

Healthcare leaders from nine major institutions attended, including Al Wakra Hospital, Ambulatory Care Center, Aspetar, Fahad Bin Jassim Kidney Center, Hazm Mebaireek General Hospital, Heart Hospital, Sidra Medicine, and the Women's Wellness Research Center. Preceptors, nurse educators, charge nurses, head nurses, and nursing directors offered professional insights throughout the day. Under the guidance of course lead Ms. Kristi Yassine, co-lead Ms. Tawny Lowe, and Practice Coordinator Ms. Nicole Boulais McBain, students demonstrated l proficiency and comprehensive understanding gained from their experiences.

To promote active participation at the event, attendees who visited all fifteen booths were entered into a raffle. Ms. Arce Amparo, Director of Nursing at Hazm Mebaireek General Hospital, and Ms. Kedra Elmi, Clinical Midwife Educator at Sidra Medicine, emerged as winners.

The conference concluded with a student-produced video highlighting the pivotal role of mentorship throughout their clinical journey. This moving reflection underscored the impact of guidance, collaboration, and its impact on their professional growth. The NURS 506 Clinical Exploratory Practicum Mini-Conference exemplified UCQ’s commitment to preparing its nursing students to combine academic knowledge, practical skills, and leadership as they advance into professional practice. The event demonstrated how meaningful experiences, interprofessional collaboration, and mentorship strengthen students’ ability to address the unique healthcare needs of Qatar's communities and the broader nursing profession.
