Music by Frigate will propel the contradancing beginning at 7:30 pm. on Friday, Nov. 15, at Trinity Commons in Lewiston. A brief instructional for those in need will be given at 7 p.m. The caller for the evening is Ellen Hodgkin.

Frigate is made up of Steve Muise, fiddle, Glen Loper, mandolin and banjo, and Fred White.  The three met many years ago, at Maine Fiddle Camp, where they were and still are instructors. Muise is of Acadian descent, and performs widely with Frigate, as well as Boreal Tordu and the Franklin County Fiddlers, a group he has mentored for many years, made up of many of his Farmington public schools students. Loper performs with many bands, including Stomprocket, Steam Packet and Riptide, all big favorites at contradances throughout New England. White drives the rhythms and harmonies with the Ferrel Cats and the Montville Project, when not playing with Frigate.

Trinity Commons is located at 247 Bates Street in Lewiston. A sliding scale fee of $15-$25 dollars for adults and $5 for teens through age 25 is payable at the door. For more information, visit facebook.com/people/Lewiston-Contradance/61556579781194.
