James J Cohn OBITUARY
James (Jimmy) J Cohn, 84, passed away on November 10, 2024 surrounded by family at his home in Delray Beach, FL. Born to Charlotte and Bernard, Jimmy grew up in Harrison, New York, went to Hobart University and received his MBA from New York University. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend whose charisma and generosity left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Jimmy had a lifelong passion for playing and watching sports. He could often be found on the tennis court before dawn, the driving range at sunset or cheering on his friends at a competitive match. His love for The Celtics, Heat and Mets was only rivaled by the pride he felt watching his grandchildren play. There was nothing as important to Jimmy as showing up for his family and friends.
He built a highly reputable car business and would consistently go the extra “mile” to care for and support his clients who became trusted friends. Jimmy moved mountains for those in need, anytime anywhere – always dressed to impress in head to toe coordinated outfits.
Jimmy was known for his unwavering kindness in volunteering his time and energy to support his community. Whether lending a hand to neighbors, coaching little league, or offering his advice and tennis tips, he showed up with an open heart and a warm smile as the unofficial mayor of Valencia Falls.
James is survived by his loving wife Diana, his children Robyn (Jon) and Bryn, his grandchildren Ryan, Sloane, Mady, Lilly, Ruby and Nate, his brother John (Eve), nieces and nephews Adam, Jessica and Abby — all of whom were the joys of his life. He was preceded in death by his treasured daughter Lisa (Sean), sister Judy and brother in law Allan. Jimmy’s legacy lives vibrantly through the countless stories and memories he shared with those who loved him.
A memorial of Jimmy’s life will be held on November 12th, 2024 at 2:30pm at Beth Israel Memorial Chapel Delray Beach (5808 W Atlantic Ave, Delray Beach, FL 33484). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cycle for Survival in memory of Lisa Cohn Dany. James/Jim/Jimmy/Jimbo/#1 Papi will be deeply missed, loved forever, and remembered by all who knew him as the kind-hearted and resilient person he was.
