With only one commissioner dissenting, Broward commissioners voted Tuesday to set a future hearing for a vote that would allow the Monarch Hill Landfill to grow to as much as 325 feet tall. They also want to turn the former waste-to-energy incinerator 24.2 acre site there to become landfill space so it can expand at its base. (Carline Jean/South Florida Sun Sentinel)
