An adjective is a word that modifies or describes a noun or pronoun.


It can be used to describe the qualities of someone or something independently or in
comparison to something else.
Typical Adjective Ending
1. Able / Ible

Ex: inventive, attractive

Participle Adjectives Ending in ED or ING

2. ING Adjectives
1.ED Adjectives
Adjectives that end in ing are use
Adjectives that end in ed are used to to describe things and situation

ORDER OF ADJECTIVES - PEOPLE

We can use adjectives before a noun.


Ex : Andrea is a young female student.

We can use more than one adjective to describe a person. When we use more than one
adjective, we order the adjectives.
Ex : Sadio is a polite, young man.

The general order for adjectives for people is as follows:

ORDER OF ADJECTIVES - OBJECTS

We can use more than one adjective to describe an object. When we use
more than one adjective, we order the adjectives as follows:

Ex: a pair of very confortable, green and blue, German, leather, walking boots.

We put a comma between adjectives - there is no comma between the last adjective and noun.
Ex: He got some new, black, waterproof trousers.

When we use colour adjectives we join them with and.


Ex: A green and blue boot.
When we use adjectives with numbers, we do not put the adjectives into the plural.
Ex: A thirty-year-old car.
