Troubleshooting Guide on TV RX
Power Supply:
• O/P voltage (110v, 26v, 12v, 16v, 180v)
• Each are supplied through fusable resistors
110v
To horizontal transistor
 to tuner(30v-33v) sometimes 12v (china TV board
24-28v
To vertical Amp IC
10-14v
• To regulators(from regulator to Y-C jungle IC, SYSCON IC, EEPROM IC, & AV Switch)
14-19v
 To Audio IC
 180-200v
 TO RGB Base Board
Cont….
• Power & degaussing connectors should not be reversed
• AC Protection
Fuse
NTC Thermistor
VDR
Line Filter
Inductor + Capacitor (Mica or Ceramic)
PTC Thermistor
• Connected with degaussing Coil)
2pin… 16Ω -20Ω with bip sound
3pin … common pins 16Ω -20Ω
….common pin with other pin >300Ω
Rectifiers
• 4 power Diodes or Bridge IC
• Bridge IC should be replaced by its part number Eg: B60 otherwise it
will not work longer with other part number
• Bridge Ics can be replaced with power Diodes from other TV
MFC
• Capacitance & Voltage rating should be considered
Switching
1. By two transistors
• Switching + PWM
• Both BJT sometimes MOSFET for switching
2. STR
• both are with in the STR Eg: S0583, S6507, S6508
• 5pin, 6pin, 7pin, 9pin
3. MOSFET + IC
• Switching + PWM
High Frequency Transformer (Chopper Transformer)

• Step down
• Different Output
High Speed Diodes
• 3 Diodes ( 26v is from flyback transformer) (SAMSUNG, LG, TCL)
• 4 Diodes (110v, 26v, 12v, 16v) ( SONY, AKIRA, KONKA, Universal
Board)
• 5 Diodes (180v is to the CRT Board) ( VESTEL..)
Starting Resistors
• 70KΩ - 170KΩ to PWM
• Always two resistors in series
Troubleshooting Power Supply using 60W lamp

• By Connecting Lamp( 60W) in series with the fuse

 ON -> OFF then ON …….OK(Functional)
 ON permanently….. SHORT in primary ckt
Check:
 VDR
 Power Diode/ Bridge IC
 MFC
 Switching (If STR IN with OUT)
(If Transistor C with B or C with E)
Troubleshooting Power Supply……. Cont
 Lamp OFF……. open in primary ckt
Check:
 Loose connection & crack
 P Diodes
 NTC
 MFC
 Switching
 Glows ON & then OFF with hum sound once………Secondary problem
Check:
 HOT
 Vertical IC
 Schottky Diodes
 Dc Filter Capacitors
 Error Amplifier
 Opt coupler
 Flyback
Using Universal Adapter power board
• Open STR (disconnect it properly)
• Power Module is connected
• For safety, lamp(60W) is connected in series
• Degaussing coil should be disconnected
• If lamp glows ON & then OFF repeatedly power supply is OK
• If unwanted sound & excess brightness appear on the screen, adjust
screen & focus voltage
• If the 110v is greater, adjust the POT. Otherwise HOT will fail in the
long run.
Checking whether STR is OPEN or SHORT
• Adjust DMM on continuity position
• Red probe on –ve terminal of MFC & Black on each pin of STR(other
than GND pin)
• If the reading is with the range of 350Ω-750Ω…………..STR is OK
• If Bip sound………………………………………….....STR SHORT
• If No reading…………………………………………….STR OPEN
Horizontal Amplifier and High Voltage
• HOT to horizontal deflection coil
• HOT to Flyback Transformer
• O/P voltages from flyback Transformer

Show the path of the Signal

• Jungle IC ==>HOT HDC
HOT FBT=> Different Outputs
Flyback transformer
• Draw diagram of flyback transformer & show each pins with their
output
Output voltages of Fyback transformers
• 15KV – 35KV to final Anode
• 1KV – 8KV to focus Grid
• 400V – 750V to screen grid
• 180V – 200V to RGB Base Board
• 6V – 12V AC voltage to Heater Coil
Problem of Flyback transformer
 No picture
 White screen
 Noisy Sound
HOT
• Horizontal output Transistor
• Draw its Symbol
• Output to Horizontal Deflection Coil
• 110V DC as biasing
• Also chop 110V DC to be used as input of flyback transformer
Problem of HOT Section
Symptom
• Standby blinking with hum sound
• Standby shutdown
Cont….
Check :
• 160V Cap
• HOT( Leak, Open, SHORT)
• Jungle IC
• Fusable Resistor
• Loose Connection
• Crack
HOT
• Readng: set DMM in continuity position

B-E-- 25Ω - 75Ω out of circuit

0Ω with beep sound in circuit
C-E – 300-900
Audio
• Draw the path of Audio Signal from Jungle IC to Speaker
• No sound & Weak Sound are common symptoms
Check:
 Speaker
 Audio Amplifier
 Coupling Capacitor
 Components around Audio IC
 Jungle IC
EEPOM IC/E2PROM/I2C
• Electrical Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory
• Stores user programmable information such as user information in TV
• Can be both erased and programmed with electrical pulses from a
programmer kit
• Non volatile memory
• Start working when there is a command(STB) from SYSCON IC
EEPROM Cont….
• EEPROM performs two tasks
1. When monitor is turned on it will copy all data or information from
the EEPROM TO THE MICROPROCESSOR. For instance the
EEPROM will let the microprocessor know the frequency at which
the monitor is going to run.
2. The EEPROM ic is used to store the current setting of the tv. The
current setting will not be erased even when the tv is switched off.
Any time when a change is made in the monitor setting the
microprocessor update the setting in the eeprom(store data in the
eeprom)
Cont…
Symptom………..EEPROM IC
• Searching
• Standby mode
• Program unadjustable
• Stack
• Only one TV channel list
• No saving TV channel

Solution………….EEPROM IC
Hot Test
 Resolder
 Ckt tracing
 Reprogramme
 If not change IC
SYSCON IC
• System Controller
• 3.3V biasing

Y-C Jungle IC
• Why jungle?
• No of Pins 50 – 64
