Annex 10 Facility Performance
Class Definition
An ILS which provides guidance
information from the coverage limit of the
Facility Performance Category I ILS to the point at which the localizer
course line intersects the ILS glide path
at a height of 200 ft (60 m) or less
An ILS which provides guidance
information from the coverage limit of the
Facility Performance Category II ILS to the point at which the localizer
course line intersects the ILS glide path
at a height of 15 m (50 ft) or less
An ILS which, with the aid of ancillary
equipment where necessary, provides
Facility Performance Category III guidance information from the coverage
limit of the facility to, and along, the
surface of the runway

• B: 3,500 ft before the threshold
(CAT I Decision Point)
• C: Glidepath Altitude of 100ft
(HAT)CAT II Decision Point)

Integrity and CoS (3rd Character)
Level Definition
Low vis ops below 200’ HATh supplemented by visual cues or
1 advanced avionics. Does not require CoS to be demonstrated
and/or integrity value not available or assigned
Reduced visibility ops below 100’ HATh supplemented by visual
2 cues or advanced avionics. Normally required to support CAT II
operations down to and including 1000 RVR
High degree of reliance on ILS guidance positioning through
3 touchdown. Normally required by Flight Standards to support CAT
III operations down to and including 600 RVR
High degree of reliance on ILS guidance throughout touchdown
and rollout or for low vis Takeoff – requires the localizer for lateral
4
guidance throughout the takeoff roll. Normally required by Flight
Standards to support CAT III operations below 600 RVR

CAT I ILS Autoland (OpSpec C060)

Note.— This definition is not intended to preclude

the use of Facility Performance Category I — ILS
below the height of 60 m (200 ft), with visual
reference where the quality of the guidance
provided permits, and where satisfactory
operational procedures have been established

CAT I ILS Autoland (OpSpec C061)

• Authorization to conduct autoland on other than

Categories II and III at suitably equipped airports
• Shall conduct all operations IAW 14 CFR & the
airworthiness certification basis of the automatic
flight control system
• Must determine that flight guidance system permits
safe automatically flown approaches and autolands
at that runway
• Must be trained
• May be conducted on any ILS facility but only in
CAT I or better weather
