IOT BASED HOME AUTOMATION

INTRODUCTION
Nowadays,we have remote controls for our television
sets and other electronic systems, which have made
our lives very easy.Have you ever wondered about
home automation which would give the facility of
controlling tube lights, fans and other electrical
appliances at home using remote control? Off-
cource, Yes! But, are the available options cost-
effective? If the answer is no, we have found a
solution to it.We have come up with a new system
called arduino based home automation using
wireless communication.
PROJECT IDEA
 Design and construct a home automation
system that can be control automatically and
manually IOT.
 The status of each appliances can be viewed
in android app.
INTERNET OF THINGS
 Inter networking of physical devices, vehicles,
buildings and other items.
 Embedded with electronics, software, sensors
 Internet connected objects working together

to solve a problem
WHY IoT?
 Generate collect, process and use acquired
information to make better decesions.
 Things could be anything.Physical or Virtual.
 Things can be interact each other smartly.
 Create a social network of sensors.

WORKING
 Since the aim of this project is to control real time appliances using IOT
platform, hence we are going to use a different appliances like bulb, tube light,
fan and a motor. Here we are going to use two different microcontroller
platforms for implementing our idea.
 The project consists of two parts. The first one is the transmit part that is an
android mobile phone through which we are going to control the devices. The
control signals will be sent through an android application. We are using MIT app
Inventor software/platform to design the android application.
 The second part is the Receive part to which the
devices/appliances are connected . Here we are going to use the NodeMCU and
arduino UNO board. The reason using an arduino board is because of more
number of iput pins in comparison with the NodeMCU.
 The NodeMCU will receive the signals through the Wi-Fi modem and
feed the signals to the arduino UNO board through its TX and RX pins. Now we
are using Relay driver to control the different appliances. The arduino UNO
controller will send the appropriate signal to the relays in order to make a device
switch on/switch off.

OBJECTIVES
 To save the energy proper management of
electricity distribution.
 To show the effective way for power

utilization and conservation.

 To control and monitor any operating system.
 To make a power usage low and conservation

more effective.
 To make a smart and intelligent usage of

energy and its conservation in home

appliances
CONCLUSION
 This is an ongoing project and our prime
objective is to assist handicapped/old aged
people and also save electrical power.
 This project gives basic idea about the

controlling of home appliances and provide

security using android.
 In future it can be expanded to many other

areas.
