Recreational, from the term recreation, it is an activity done for enjoyment when one is not working.
Recreational means, relating or denoting activity done for enjoyment when one is not working. It refers
to the time spent in an activity one loves to engage in, with intent to feel refreshed.

Recreational activities help you to take a break from monotony and diversion from the daily routine. It
gives people the benefit of a positive change from the stereotypical lifestyle and involves an active
participation in entertaining activities that one is interested in. When one does engage in recreating
activities that he or she likes, it would naturally give them enjoyment. Recreational activities provides
source of joy and relaxation to one’s mind and body.

Recreational activities could also help you develop your leadership skills as well as interpersonal skills.
As certain recreational activities need a lot of members, someone should be able to lead and guide
through the course of game. And since there are a lot of members, each should be able to communicate
with each other. Each should be able to share their thought on their strategies for the activities thus
resulting to developing your interpersonal skill.

Mountaineering, or mountain climbing, is the sport of reaching, or trying to reach,


high points in mountainous areas, mainly for the joy and thrill of the climb. This
sport involves intense physical activity involve with the activity of walking long
distances especially across country or traversing mountain ranges thru the help of
trail signs.

Orienteering is a recreational outdoor activity in which learners find their way to


various checkpoints across rough country with the aid of a map and compass, while
camping is an outdoor activity living in a campsite.

Aquatics is a recreational outdoor sports that involve bodies of water.

Background
• Rising to 2582 MASL in Mindoro island just south of Luzon, Mt. Halcon is one of
the majestic mountains – and best hiking destinations – in the Philippines,
featuring long, often steep trails through dense jungle, crystal-clear waters from
its rivers, as well as a magnificent ultramafic summit. Halcon’s biological profile
is equally prestigious, being home to a lot of endemic flora and fauna.

Itineraries
• 1. It is possible to compress Day 0-1 into one long day that begins at midnight
in Batangas Pier, then take an early morning trip to Calapan. Moreover, if
permits are arranged beforehand it is possible to skip Day 0 entirely
• 2. It is possible to compress Day 3-4 into one long day of descent if you start
early from the summit with possibility of night-trekking.
• 3. The choice of trail will be determined by the tourism office as per the latest
updates (2015). Hike during the weekdays for more choices.
