1. Application
It is mainly used for grinding, drying and separating raw coal into qualified
fineness for combustion in steam boilers of thermal power plants.

1.1 Model Meaning The coal mill model is expressed as follows:

The nominal diameter code of the grinding bowl is 70, and the number of grinding rollers is 3.

The bowl mill with dynamic separator is HP703/Dyn mill.

2. Classification of HP863 Coal Mill Specifications
The specifications of HP bowl-type coal mills are expressed by numbers,
with single digits representing the number of grinding rollers, and the
number formed by the combination of the number on the 10th and the
number on the 100th representing the nominal size of the grinding
bowl, for example, HP703 bowl-type coal mills, 3 representing three
grinding rollers, 70 representing the nominal size of the grinding bowl is
70 inches (1778 mm). It should be noted that the nominal size of the
grinding bowl referred to here is only "nominal". Since there are 25
specifications for coal mills, The output difference between them is only
2-3T/h. In order to optimize the design and manufacture, appropriately
reduce the specifications of parts, and relatively increase the
applicability and interchangeability of parts, 25 kinds of coal mills with
specifications are divided into 7 series during the design, specifically
683-743; 763~803 ; 823~863 ; 883~943 ; 963~1003 ;
1023~1103 ; 1163~1303 。 The mechanical dimensions of the parts
of the coal mills in the same series are exactly the same, while those of
different series are different from each other. For coal mills in the same
series, the basic output variation lies in the difference of the maximum
3. Working Principle of HP703 Coal Mill
Raw coal (diameter < 35mm) is fed into the rotating bowl through
the central coal feeding pipe and moves to the periphery of the
bowl under the action of centrifugal force to form a layer of coal
bed on the bowl. Three independent spring-loaded grinding rollers
are distributed at intervals of 120 degrees and are installed on
the grinding bowl with a certain clearance between the grinding
rollers and the grinding bowl. The grinding roller applies
necessary grinding pressure by means of a spring pressing
device. Coal is ground into powder between the bowl liner and the
grinding roller. Coal mills mainly use grinding rollers and bowls to
crush and grind the coal between them. Pulverized coal moves
outward under the action of centrifugal force and overflows along
the periphery of the grinding bowl.

5. The Composition of The Coal Mill
HP bowl coal mill is mainly composed of the following
components: central coal dropping pipe, discharge
valve and multi-outlet device, separator top cover
device, separator body device, inner cone device,
Venturi and blade device, spring loading device,
grinding roller device, grinding bowl and impeller
device, side body device, scraper device (long and
short), gap gas sealing device, planetary gear
reduction box, lubricating oil station, coupling, motor,
sealing gas sealing system, pressure difference
device, etc.
5.1 Grinding roller
-Roller consists of roller shaft, upper
and lower bearings, roller, trunnion
and shell.
-The trunnion is used as a fulcrum for
turning over the grinding roller
when loading and unloading the
grinding roller. Through the roller
loading and unloading door, it is
very convenient to install and
overhaul the roller.
-The magnitude of the preload
pressure can be adjusted by
adjusting the preload pressure bolt.
-The clearance between grinding roller
and bowl can be controlled by
adjusting the positioning bolt of
grinding roller.

The grinding roller device of HP
coal mill is completely new in
design and structure and adopts
the latest patented design
concept. The bearing system
includes two large tapered roller
bearings back to back, which
increases the span and load
capacity of the bearings.
Lubrication of roller bearing is
simple oil bath lubrication in

5.3 Spring Loading Device

devices for roller loading.

5.4 Grinding Bowl (Liner)
HP coal mill has added an
impeller device that rotates with
the grinding bowl. Impeller is the
standard primary separator of HP
coal mill. The impeller device
enables the primary air passing

5.5   Scraper Device
6. Structural Characteristics of HP703 Coal Mill
6.1 There is a certain gap between the grinding components (grinding roller
sleeve, grinding bowl lining plate) of HP coal mill, there is no direct contact,
and the operation is stable. HP coal mill can meet the requirements of both
no-load and on-load startup modes.
6.2 HP coal mill is easy to repair, equipped with roller turning-out device, three
rollers turning out at the same time, for replacement of roller sleeve; The
gear pulling-out mechanism is used to replace and repair the gear box. The
grinding bowl lining board is made up of small pieces, each piece is only
about 30kg, which can be moved manually. These characteristics make it
the shortest time to maintain HP coal mill regularly.
6.3 The wearing parts of HP coal mills of the same specification are
interchangeable.
6.4 The folding door of the separator shall be flexibly and reliably adjusted and
marked with opening indication and switch direction.
6.5 All binding surfaces of the machine body shall be sealed well without
powder leakage.
6.6 After the top cover of the separator is formed, the stress shall be relieved.
5.8 The grinding roller device, spring loading device and the connecting
part between the reduction gearbox and the side body are sealed
with mechanical air.
5.9 A two-stage transmission hard-toothed planetary gear reducer is
adopted, which has high transmission efficiency and long service life.
The reducer is well sealed and does not leak oil.
5.10 Stone coal scraper has sufficient strength and rigidity and long
service life.
5.11 Stone coal discharging device and stone coal hopper can ensure
smooth discharge of stone coal.
5.12 HP coal pulverizer is simple and reasonable in structure. The
spring loading device is arranged externally to avoid erosion of
pulverized coal and is convenient to adjust and maintain. The whole
machine is light in weight, the gear box is light, the occupied area is
small, the installation height is low, and the factory building cost is
saved.
5.13 HP coal mill can be started with or without coal, which makes it
very convenient to start and stop the coal mill, and the starting
