Be Passionate in Your Faith!: of St. John's in Pine Meadow
The schedule listed on the left is fairly daunting in lives filled with so many activities and demands. And when most of us think we are lucky to find one hour a week to be in church, the thought of even once during the week can seem completely unrealistic. However, I know that I find time to do the things I am really passionate about - activities which interest, challenge, or excite me. And Ive witnessed the same commitment to such activities from many of you. Giving the time necessary to these activities isnt always easy, especially when it means leaving other things undone, but it is usually rewarding, because it helps us to grow in some part of our lives. The Holy Week services call us to be passionate about our faith - to put aside other activities for one week in order to consider how God has reached out to us through the life and death of his son. Taking part in these services requires a level of commitment and involvement greater than any other time of the year. The reward can be a growth in our awareness of Gods presence in our lives. The Palm Sunday service at 10 am includes incredible music to accompany the readings about Jesus passionhis commitment of himself for us. The choir and Halyna have been passionate in preparing for this service. Please reward their efforts with your presence. In addition to hearing beautiful music, you can experience the story at an emotional level which has aroused passions for generations. May the passions of Holy Week and Easter enrich your life!

Shopping Cards
An Easy Way to Help When you buy shopping/gift cards through St. Johns, you are making a contribution that does not cost you financially. It may take a little planning. Orders are taken the 1st and 3rd Sundays, and cards are delivered on the 2nd and 4th Sundays. Order forms are available in the narthex and can be placed in the lockbox at any time. Sale of the gift cards will all go to defray the budget deficit.
Donna Colavecchio has done a great job in getting the coupons distributed. Now you can do a great job getting the cash or coupons back to her as soon as possible. If we dont return coupons to Swells Car Wash in Winsted by March 31, we have to pay for them. We sell the coupons for $10, and $5 goes to the church. Questions? Want some coupons? Contact Donna at 379-4643 or [email protected].

Outreach News
Our field trip to Hartford turned out to be a most joyful and beneficial experience! Rose Fichera -Eagen, Church St. Eats Program Coordinator, was very impressed and appreciative of our congregation. We will have an opportunity in September to attend an outdoor Eucharist in Bushnell Park with Salin as the Presider and to distribute sandwiches after the service. If anyone is interested in knitting together following the 8 or 10 am Sunday service once a month, please let Denise know. If you have shawls finished by April 29, please bring them in so that we can give them to the Chaplains at the hospital in time for Mother's Day. Let Denise know if you have ideas about outreach projects within our local community.

On February 21 we hosted our 13th Mardi Gras Jazz Concert and Ice Cream social. The bands from Regional 7 really appreciate the chance to perform. The ice cream servers enjoy sampling their product.
On February 22, in addition to our usual morning and evening services, we offered ashes outside to people who stopped by the church. People seemed excited to have this option, and we were pleased to meet a need of the world.
On March 6 a group of about 35 members of St. Johns took the socks we had collected to the cathedral in Hartford. Younger kids sorted socks; older kids helped serve lunch to street people; adults learned about the ministry from Rose Eagan. An incredible day to be sure!
