Q1: After enrolling in a STEM school, one of grade 10 students

hesitated to continue in the STEM system due to the

challenging new lifestyle.
Advise him/her by using three pieces of advice. *
Personal Reflection/Team Collaboration

May some of grade 10 students hesitated to continue in STEM

school for many reasons:
his comfort:
From our school two students have been hesitated to continue
in the STEM system because they use not to live without his
family and far from home, so he suffers from that and it leaded
to make him out of STEM system.
My advice to him/her is to wait and it will be easy to step out of
home for two weeks even it was very difficult and hard for
them. You should try to make good friends to feal more
comfort. and choose your roommates carefully to feel comfort
with them. you may face problems in food, but it is normal
because you used to eat your mother food.
Other students were afraid from the amount of study and
resources and references, actually me too, I was afraid from this
and afraid from studying, fear from trying to study and fail. I
had solved this problem by being brave and taking step, I know
it is not easy, but it will be, believe me. And if you take the step
and failed in study do not despair and continue studying, you
will achieve your goal and you will find the way to study, the
special way of you and you will great me then.
Q2: In your capstone project you have to convert waste into
valuable products for air pollution mitigation. Illustrate the type
of pollutant you will work on and two different ways you hope
this process will have a positive effect on the environment.*
Using the Engineering Design Process (EDP)
The theme of capstone this semester is to purifier and filter the
air by using waste materials by doing treatment on it to be
available to use in the purification, and do not pollute the
environment. So, this is the challenge, we asked to make
purification on the air by three ways physical, chemical and
biological.
We do much research on this theme to imagine the project as it
is unusual from the last years as it was filtration on water. For
real, I like this change because it is different from the last years.
We collect enough information to choose solutions so we
already make a comparison in solutions and finally we select
our prior solution then we find that this solution meet the
design requirements. The design requirements are to collect
from 600 to 1500 ml and filter them, use three ways to filter the
air (physical, chemical, biological). Use material that is not
harmful to environment, make sure that 20% of the amount of
air will purifier in 10 min so we must use sensors, after treat the
waste materials to be available to use we must have samples of
it to show the difference to evaluators.
We find that the selected solution meets the design
requirement so we started working on it, waiting for the results,
I hope it success,
Q3:
genetically modified organisms (GMOs), genes, and DNA,
seem less directly related to air treatment. However, there are
still potential connections between biological concepts and air
treatment, particularly when it comes to biological air filtration
systems and genetic modifications used to improve air quality.
1.Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) in Air Treatment:
Bioremediation: GMOs can be engineered to help in
bioremediation, a process where living organisms are used to
clean up environmental pollutants in the air. For example,
genetically modified bacteria can be designed to break down
harmful chemicals in the atmosphere, such as volatile organic
compounds (VOCs) or greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide
(CO₂).
4: (EN 2.02) In English you have been learning about writing for
different audiences. Write a paragraph to your grade 10 mates
describing the importance of following EDP to solve a challenge
they face.

Learning Transfer
Firstly, we all know that we must use scientific steps in
capstone. Do you ask yourself why we should do that? There
are many probabilities for the result, the project may success
and it may fail.
The advanced scientists set a specific steps for scientific
research called Engineering Design Process (EDP).
EDP steps:
1. Identify the problem
We should identify the challenge that we asked to finde
solutions for it.
2. Do background research:
We should do enough research to understand the theme and
imagine the project that we are working on.
3. Select some solutions that is related to the challenge
It is important to do this because it helps us and it save time
for creating the edits on it.
4. Make comparisons on the solutions to choose the selected
solution that will be use in the project
5. Test the solution and show if it meets the design
requirements or not.
6. If it meets the design requirements we should move to the
prototype
7. If it does not, we should reselect prior solution and test it.
8. Finally building the prototype
These processes are important in any scientific research for
any project.
