1. The Social Media Usage and Its Impact on the Filipino Learners' Academic Performance
Amidst the Online Education (Tus et al., 2021):

This study found that students who use social media for academic purposes, like research
or group work, lead to them having better grades. However, those who used it mostly for
entertainment didn’t have any positive impact. It shows that social media can be helpful
when used for learning, but too much use for non-productive activities can be distracting.
We can apply this to our research by showing that using social media to learn about
healthy eating can help students make better food choices. This study supports our
research because it highlights how purposeful use of social media can lead to positive
outcomes.

2. Social Media Platform and Its Impact on the Academic Performance of Senior High
School Students in the New Normal Learning System (Jacinto et al., 2021):

This study found that the time students spent on social media didn’t significantly affect
their grades. Some used Facebook for school-related tasks, while others used it for fun.
The conclusion emphasized that proper time management allowed students to balance
social media use and studies effectively. We can use this study for our research to explore
how effective time management might allow students to balance social media use with
making healthy food choices. This study does not fully support our research, as it shows
that simply spending time on social media does not have a significant effect on outcomes
like nutritional choices.

3. Social Media Exposure and Its Perceived Impact on Students’ Home-Based Tasks
Productivity (Kabigting et al., 2021):

This study found that while social media helped students stay connected and complete
tasks that involved communication, excessive use led to distractions. It emphasized the
need for balance in social media use. For our research, this study can help by highlighting
that frequent social media use could either promote healthy habits or lead to distractions
that negatively affect students' focus on health-related content. This study supports our
research by reinforcing the idea that frequent social media use, when used appropriately,
can help students access valuable nutritional information.

4. Social Media Usage and The Academic Performance of Filipino Junior High School
Students (Dimacangun & Guillena, 2023):

This study found that Filipino junior high school students regularly used social media for
school activities, but the amount of time spent on social media did not correlate with their
academic performance. It concluded that the type of content matters more than the time
spent. We can use this study to suggest that while the frequency of social media use may
not directly impact nutritional choices, the main point lies in engaging with the right kind
of content, like health-related posts. This study supports our research by indicating that
the frequency of social media use itself might not be as important as the type of content
students interact with, which is crucial for shaping their nutritional choices.

5. Facebook Usage on Junior High School Students’ Reading Habits, Attitudes, and
Academic Performance (Dangdang & Abarquez, 2024):

This study found that while students spent several hours on Facebook daily, their reading
habits were affected (preferring shorter content), but it did not directly influence their
academic performance. It emphasized that how students used Facebook mattered much
more than how much time they spent on it. For our research, we can use this study to
show that the frequency of social media use could impact students’ preferences for
certain types of health-related content, but engagement and content quality are what truly
matter for their nutritional choices. This study supports our research by emphasizing that
what matters is how students engage with social media, not just how often they use it.
