    LOGBOOK

    Retrospective Logging of Experience (see "Prior Experience Log" tab)


    Use the Prior Experience Log tab to record in general terms experience gained prior to starting
    this logbook.
    For RYA courses, only experience gained in the last 10 years will be taken into account.

    Personal Log (see "Logbook" tab)


    Use the Logbook tab to record details of each passage with the following information.
    Name of Vessel
    The vessel must be over 7m water line length. If using mileage on a vessel over 24m length
    overall then enter its tonnage.
    Details of Voyage
    Include ports visited, max wind strength and any other relevant information about the voyage.
    Responsibility
    Give full details of the capacity in which you sailed e.g. crew member, watch leader, mate,
    skipper etc.
    Days on Board
    A day on board is a period of eight consecutive hours living on board the vessel, the majority of
    time the vessel should be at sea.
    Only one eight-hour period may be counted in any 24hr period.
    Night Hours
    Number of hours at night on watch or taking an active part in the navigation or handling of the
    vessel at sea between sunset and sunrise.
    Distance Logged
    Distance sailed by the vessels log in the open sea outside of a harbour.

    Indicate if the mileage was tidal or non-tidal. An area is tidal if published stream, current or
    tidal-range data is available and is significant enough to be taken into account to plan and
    execute a safe passage.
    Signature of Skipper

    Holders of logbooks may sign for entries during which they were the skipper of the vessel.

    Use this section to detail the 5 x 60 mile required passages for the exam.
