DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN MATHEMATICS III

I. A. Content Standard
Demonstrates understanding of bar graphs and outcomes of an event
using the terms sure, likely, equally likely, unlikely, and impossible to
happen.

B. Performance Standard
Is able to create and interpret simple representations of data (tables
and single bar graphs) and describe outcomes of familiar events. Using
the terms sure, likely, equally likely, unlikely, and impossible to happen.

C. Learning Competency
Sorts, classifies, and organizes data in tabular form and presents this
into a vertical or horizontal bar graph. M3SP-IVg-2.3

Learning Objectives: At the end of the lesson, students are expected to;

a. organize data in tabular form and present this into a vertical and
horizontal bar graph.
b. construct a single horizontal or single vertical bar graph; and
c. tell the importance of organizing data.

II. a. Subject Matter: Statistics and Probability (Sorting, classifying, and

organizing data in tabular form)
b. References: K to 12 Curriculum Guide Fourth Quarter page 95,
Lesson Guide in Elem. Math Grade 3. 2012. pp. 430-434
c. Materials: PowerPoint presentation, tables, bar graphs (single
horizontal and single vertical).

A. Preparatory Activities

1. Drill
Let us have some exercises first. I
will divide the class into two and then
every group must select their group
leader. Understood?
Yes ma’am!
Okay very good!

So this time, you have to choose from

numbers 1 to 2. Attach inside the
envelope is your group name, and or
your group sound.

GROUP 1 GROUP 2
“STAR” “DIAMOND”

CLAP SSSHHHH
Remember, if I call your group number,
you should response with your group
sound and or your group action. Is that
clear?

Very good! Okay! Let’s start with Yes ma’am!

Group STAR.
Clap! Clap! Clap! Clap!
How about the DIAMPOND group?

Let us try to have a test now! Sshhh! Sshhh! Sshhh! Sshhh!

is to look at the given table and answer
the questions that follow.

A monkey in the forest loves to eat Yes ma’am!

bananas.

Weeks Number of
bananas eaten
by the monkey
Week 1 6
IV. Evaluation

Directions: Construct a single vertical bar graph using the table below.

The school principal conducted a survey of pupils’ activity after school

hours. The table below shows the result.

Pupils’ Activity after School Hours

Activities Number of Pupils

Play sports 25
Play computer/ cell phone games 33
Do house chores 39

Read books 23

V. Assignment

Directions: Interview your family members and relatives about their

favorite food. After listing many favorite foods, choose five of the most
popular then organize the data gathered in tabular form. After that, construct
a single horizontal bar graph.
