Centrifugal pumps
4- Calculate the vane angle at inlet of a centrifugal pump impeller has 300
mm diameter at inlet and 600 mm diameter at outer rim. The impeller
vane are set back ward at angel of to the outer rim and entry of the
pump is radial. The pump run at 1000 rpm and the flow velocity
through the impeller is constant (3 m/s). Also calculate head done by
the impeller, absolute fluid velocity at exit, and angle of guide vanes
after the impeller.
[Answer , 91m, 28.57m/s, ]
5- The external diameter of the impeller of centrifugal pump is 250mm
and the internal diameter is 150 mm, the corresponding width of the
impeller at this latter point being 15mm. The vane angel at the outlet
makes an angel of backwards to the tangent of the impeller circle.
If the radial velocity of the flow is constant, the discharge being 2.7
when the speed is 1100 rpm. Calculate (a) The impeller angle
at inlet (b) The angle of the guide vanes in the diffuser ring (c) The
pressure rise through the pump assuming a diffuser ring efficiency of
60% and neglecting fractional losses.
