Modes of Narration: Understanding How Stories are Told

Introduction:
- Narration is the way a story is told, and it helps create a connection between the storyteller and the audience.
- Think of narration as the storyteller's "point of view" or perspective in the story.

1. First Person: "I, Me, My" (The Storyteller is a Character):

- The narrator is a character in the story.
- Uses pronouns like "I," "me," and "my" to tell the story.
- Example: "I went to the park and saw a rainbow in the sky."

2. Second Person: "You, Your" (Directly Addresses the Reader):

- The narrator talks directly to the reader.
- Uses pronouns like "you" and "your" to involve the reader in the story.
- Example: "You open the door and find a surprise waiting for you."

3. Third Person: "He, She, They" (The Storyteller is an Outside Observer):

- The narrator is not a character in the story but observes and tells about the characters.
- Uses pronouns like "he," "she," and "they."
- Example: "She danced in the rain, feeling pure joy in her heart."

Key Points to Remember:

- First person is like telling a story from your own eyes.
- Second person is like the narrator is talking directly to you.
- Third person is like a camera watching the story unfold.

Conclusion:
- Narration is like the storyteller's "camera lens" - it helps us see the story in a certain way.
- Choosing the right mode of narration makes a story more interesting and engaging.
VOICE

Voice in grammar refers to the relationship between the subject and the verb in a sentence. There are two
voices: active voice and passive voice.

1. Active Voice:
- In the active voice, the subject of the sentence performs the action.
- The structure is Subject + Verb + Object.
- Example: "The cat chased the mouse."
- Subject: The cat
- Verb: chased
- Object: the mouse

2. Passive Voice:
- In the passive voice, the subject of the sentence receives the action.
- The structure is Object of the active sentence + auxiliary verb (be) + past participle of the main verb + by
+ Subject of the active sentence.
- Example: "The mouse was chased by the cat."
- Object of the active sentence: the mouse
- Auxiliary verb (be): was
- Past participle of the main verb: chased
- Subject of the active sentence: the cat

It is important to note that not all sentences can be transformed from active to passive voice and vice versa.
The decision to use active or passive voice depends on the emphasis you want to give to the subject or the
