1.0 GENERAL GUIDELINES

This is a group assignment. It is your responsibility to:
● Form your own group consisting of FOUR (4) to SIX (6) members, within the SAME
PRACTICAL GROUP.
● Ensure that every group member plays a role in completing this assignment.
● Consult your respective tutor to get consent on the suitability of the materials used for
your assignments.
2.0 ASSIGNMENT 1: DATA ANALYSIS (20%)

2.1 Objectives
Through this assignment, you will be able explore, understand and apply all knowledge and
skills acquired from this course to process data into useful information, which is meaningful
to be presented. The objectives of the assignment are to enable you to:
● Explore methods to collect data. Thus, self-learning and exploration are highly required
here.
● Demonstrate analytical thinking in organising and analysing the data that you have
collected to facilitate decision making in achieving the objectives set.
2.2 Theme
For Assignment 1, each assignment group requires to create a survey based on the selected
themes given by the lecturer. The survey should focus on understanding the respondents’
preferences, usage or opinion of the chosen theme.
The collected data will then be analysed to gain understandings on the chosen theme based
on the answers from the respondents.
2.3 Tasks
You are required to:
1. Create a GOOGLE FORMS.
i. Data collection:
● Each group member is required to identify ONE (1) objective of the data analysis,
which are relevant to the theme given by the lecturer.
● Based on the objectives, create ONE (1) Google Forms for the survey to obtain
relevant data.
● The group is required to collect at least 50 sets of survey responds. Survey
questions may include personal details of respondent such as gender, age and etc.,
followed by questions related to the objectives organised with appropriate
sections.

2. Create a SPREADSHEET using Microsoft Excel (spreadsheet software).

i. Data organisation:
● Based on the data collection from the Google Forms, you are required to organise
the data with proper headers that you think would be meaningful to be used in data
analysis.
ii. Data analysis (Individual):
● Each group member is required to create a worksheet to analyse the data based on
the objective set by using relevant formula(s) and table(s).
● Present the analysis using relevant chart(s). Write a conclusion of the analysis
below the chart(s).

3.0 SUBMISSION
• ONLY the GROUP LEADER is required to SUBMIT the assignment.
• All other group members must ensure that the correct materials are submitted.
• Each group MUST submit:
o ONE (1) Google Forms Survey Form (link and PDF file)
Rename the PDF file to:
<Practical Group No.>_<Group Name>_Survey_Form
(E.g. P1_Group1_Survey_Form)
o ONE (1) Workbook Spreadsheet (.xlsx file)
Rename the Excel file to:
<Practical Group No.>_<Group Name>_Data_Analysis
(E.g. P1_Group1_Data_Analysis)
(Note: Google Form submission link will be shared during practical session in Week 10)
WARNING!!!
● This assignment must be from your original work and effort. Any plagiarism and
copying found would result in ZERO (0) mark awarded to all members of the group.
● Any late submission will result in 10% daily deduction from the total mark of this
assignment.
4.0 GRADING CRITERIA

4.1 Google Forms - 5%
● Form Settings
o Correct and relevant setting of the form.
● Questions Type
o Correct questions designing (question type and relevancy).
● Question Flow and Sectioning
o Form sections are relevant and organised with proper sections.
4.2 Data Analysis: Spreadsheet (.xlsx) - 15%

● Data Organisation (10%)
o Dataset is efficiently organised and cleansed with proper formatting.
● Data Analysis (5%) - Individual
o Data Analysis and Conclusion
▪ Data is analysed with appropriate formula and functions with relevance to the
objective.
o Data Charts and Tables
▪ Appropriate chart(s) and table(s) with proper labelling used to illustrate data.
