In August 2019, Dr. Kadakia returned home to spend a couple of months working at San Clemente Medi Center
Urgent Care and to be with his grandchildren, following the birth of his granddaughter. In December 2019, he
contracted COVID-19 while caring for patients at Urgent Care. This led to long-term complications, including
sepsis and peritonitis in April 2020, necessitating surgery. Originally planning to resume work in the ER, his
health prevented him from doing so until now. From 2019 to 2023, Dr. Kadakia worked at Urgent Care during
periods of good health and took leave during illness. He has now been medically cleared to return.
Dr. Kadakia has expressed his willingness to work 1-2 shifts without compensation, under the supervision of the
medical director, to ensure that he is thoroughly evaluated before resuming regular duties.
