1 Purpose
This configuration guide provides the information you need to set up the configuration of this
building block manually.
If you do not want to configure manually and prefer an automated installation process using
BC Sets and other tools, refer to the Quick Guide of your SAP Best Practices version, which
you can find on the documentation DVD.
2 Preparation
2.1 Prerequisites
Before you start installing this building block, you must install prerequisite building blocks. For
more information, see the building block prerequisite matrix
(Prerequisites_Matrix_[xx]_EN_CN.xls; the placeholder [xx] depends on the SAP Best
Practices version you use, for example, AF refers to the SAP Best Practices for Apparel and
Footwear Package: Prerequisites_Matrix_AF_EN_CN.xls). This document can be found on
the SAP Best Practices documentation DVD in the folder ..\BBLibrary\General\.
3 Configuration
3.1 Customizing
3.1.1 Master Data
3.1.1.1 Activating Storage Unit Management per
Warehouse Number
Use
Storage Unit Management must be activated at warehouse number level.
Procedure
1. Access the activity using one of the following navigation options:

2. On the Change View “Warehouse number Control: Overview screen, mark entry WhN
“Y01” and choose Details.
Use
The purpose of this activity is to define number ranges for warehouse management, such as
for transfer requirement, transfer order, quants, post change notices and storage units.
Procedure
1. Access the activity using one of the following navigation options:
2. On the Number Ranges for Warehouse Management screen, choose Storage Unit
Number.

Use
A warehouse number is divided up into a number of storage types. A storage type is defined
on the basis of its spatial or organizational features, for example, high rack storage area, bulk
storage area, goods receipt area. Storage types are also important to manage goods in
interim area and warehouse. For demonstration purpose, storage type D01 and D05 will be
created for warehouse.

5. Using the upper method to define standard storage type: D06, D11, D12, D13, 150, 200,

Use
Within a storage type, a storage section is a series of storage bins with the same features.
For example, distance to the turnover point, loading capacity, temperature. Storage section
must be defined before create storage bins. For demonstration purpose, one total section is to
be defined for all storage types.

Use
A picking area is an object within a storage type that group together storage bins for stock
removal.
Procedure

In the Warehouse Management system, you can create a sequence of similar storage bins
automatically. Define the parameters required for creating storage bins in the table Storage
Bin Structures.

Use
With the help of this key you can configure the system so that certain materials are to be
placed into or removed from certain storage types in preference to others. You can define
the storage types in a priority list.

3.1.3.1 Assigning Recipient for Mail Messages

While the transfer orders are being generated in the background, you can create logs and
error messages using mail messages. These mails are allocated to certain recipients by
means of a mail indicator. Determine the mail indicators and assign these to the recipients.
You can also determine according to which criteria the transfer orders are to be created:

In the WM System, you can generate transfer orders in the background, directly following the
creation of transfer requirements or posting change notices. In this menu option you define
the settings for automatic transfer order creation.

Use
If the SAP system determines that a movement is relevant for Warehouse Management, it
assigns a WM movement type to this movement via a table. The movement type for the
Warehouse Management system provides the information required for stock placements and
stock removals. Copy movement types from existing warehouse number (for example, 001).
For demonstration purpose, only movement types used in BPD would be copied here.
Procedure

2. Select the following movement type entries for the existing source warehouse number (for
example, 001), choose Copy. For each entry, you will see a detail screen, change the
warehouse number to Y01 there and choose Enter to go to next entry.
Use
The WM movement type that is defined here will be used to replenish warehouse stock
internally for a storage bin in this storage type. Use the WM movement type 319. You can use
this movement type as a copy sample for creating your own movement type.

Use
A storage type generally contains several storage spaces or slots. These are called storage
bins in Warehouse Management (WM). The storage bin is the smallest available unit of space
in a warehouse. The storage bin therefore describes the position in the warehouse where the
goods are or can be stored.

For every Apparel Unisex Sizes and Color entry (for example XS BLK) you have
to customize a separate storage bin! You can choose empty bins from F4-choice.
Background: in WM every Apparel Unisex Size and Color entry, handle such a separate
material (SKU). And the system is customized that every material has its own fixed
storage bin.
