Just as expectations about working life have changed over the decades, so too
have methods of communication. This has created friction among employees
from different generations, with 63% of talent professionals reporting that
differing communication styles present a challenge for their company.
The people of Baby Boomers and Generation X consider people of Generation Y as “young smart alec”,
“immature”, “less visionary” and somewhat possessing minimal ethics whereas people of Generation Y
consider Baby Boomers and Generation X as “less productive”, “inefficient” and “technologically
backward”.
The fact is that everyone cannot have similar capabilities, mindsets, attitudes and behaviors. That is how
human beings have been created. In fact different mindsets and capabilities are important in achieving
organizational excellence but positive and adaptive attitude and respect of each other is extremely vital.
