Classical Dance
The dance that describes the character of God, Goddess, and religious scripture is called classical
dance.
The first formal mention of classical dance is found in Bharata Muni's famous work, Natya
Shastra
According to the Ministry of Art and Culture there are 8 classical dances found in india, while
Chhau is considered a semi-classical dance category.
1. Bharatnatyam is an Indian classical dance form that is believed to have been revealed by
Lord Brahma to the Bharata and is also the oldest and most famous dance of the temples of
Tamil Nadun. It evolved from Ekaharya Lasyanga"
