We are here to present our research study entitled (Interrelationship between physical fitness and
academic performance among senior high school students of pilpila national high school)
And now I'm going to give this moment to (member who are going to present the chapter 1)for chapter
1.
Chapter 1.
This chapter of this study will encompass the background, scope, limitations, and theories that will serve
as the foundation for the research. It aims to provide an overview of the topics that the researchers will
explore.
Introduction.
Physical fitness refers to the ability of our body systems to work effectively, promoting overall health
and enabling us to perform daily activities. It involves the coordination of the heart, lungs, and muscles.
Academic performance, on the other hand, is the measure of how well a student, teacher, or institution
has achieved their educational goals, typically determined through assessments and examinations.
There is indeed a correlation between physical activity and academic performance. Individuals who
engage in regular physical activity tend to exhibit better grades, attendance, cognitive abilities such as
memory, and classroom behavior. Higher levels of physical fitness are associated with improved
concentration, memory, and overall academic success. Research supports the idea that physical activity
and fitness positively impact academic outcomes. Studies have demonstrated that regular physical
activity can enhance cognitive function, reduce stress and anxiety, and ultimately benefit academic
performance.
The aim of this study is to investigate the impact of a high level of physical fitness on the academic
performance of Senior High School students. The researchers seek to determine if there is a significant
relationship between physical fitness and academic performance, and to explore the underlying factors
that contribute to this relationship. The findings of this study will provide insights into the connection
between physical fitness and academic performance among Senior High School students.
1. To describe the profile of senior high school students in terms of gender and physical activity
participation.
3. To analyze if there are any differences in physical activity levels between male and female students.
4. To investigate the relationship between physical activity and academic performance among senior
high school students.
By accomplishing these objectives, the study aims to gain a better understanding of how physical fitness
and academic performance are interconnected in the context of senior high school students.
Based on the findings of this study, it was observed that there is no significant difference in the level of
physical activity among the students when they are grouped according to gender. This means that both
male and female students engage in similar levels of physical activity.
Furthermore, the study also found that there is no significant relationship between the physical activity
of the students and their academic performance. This suggests that the level of physical activity does
not have a direct influence on the academic performance of the students in this particular context.
These results imply that other factors may play a more prominent role in determining academic
performance, and that physical activity alone may not be a deciding factor in this regard.
Conceptual framework.
Maintaining good physical fitness levels has the potential to positively impact the academic performance
of senior high school students at Pilpila High School. Regular engagement in physical activity and the
maintenance of physical fitness can yield various benefits for academic performance. These benefits
may involve improved cognitive function, heightened concentration and focus, increased attention span,
and enhanced memory retention. However, it is crucial to recognize the influence of individual and
contextual factors that may affect the relationship between physical fitness and academic performance.
The objective of this research was to investigate the relationship between physical fitness and academic
performance among senior high school students. The study involved analyzing different physical fitness
metrics, including cardiovascular endurance, strength, flexibility, and body composition, to determine
their potential impact on academic achievement. The research was conducted at Pilpila High School
during the School Year 2023-2024. The participants for the study were selected using convenience
sampling, which is a non-probability sampling method where units are chosen based on ease of access
for the researchers.
The primary motivation behind conducting this research is to gain a deeper understanding of the
influence of physical activity on students' academic performance. Describing the students in terms of
their gender, socioeconomic status (SES), physical activity levels, and academic performance serves as a
foundational basis and familiarizes not only the study participants but also parents, teachers, and other
researchers. By providing this comprehensive description, it will contribute to a better understanding of
how these factors interrelate and impact students' educational outcomes.
This chapter aims to provide an overview of existing studies that have examined the relationship
between physical fitness and academic performance. It includes a concise description of previous
research that has explored the connection between physical fitness and academic achievement.
Additionally, this chapter covers the measurement techniques and strategies employed in studying
physical fitness and academic performance among Senior High School students during the academic
year 2023-2024. By reviewing these studies, valuable insights can be gained into the existing knowledge
on the topic and guide the current research.
Local studies.
Studies consistently show that regular physical activity during childhood provides numerous health
benefits, including improved bone and muscle strength, metabolic health, weight management, and
mental well-being. Despite these advantages, many students do not meet the recommended physical
activity guidelines. Academic pressures often result in reduced physical education and recess time.
However, research has not found any evidence suggesting negative effects on academic or cognitive
performance due to a reduction in physical education time. By highlighting the positive association
between academic achievement and physical activity, in addition to the well-established health benefits,
policymakers may be encouraged to prioritize the promotion of physical activity in schools.
Research on the long-term effects of physical activity on academic outcomes has produced mixed
findings. While some studies have found small positive relationships between sustained physical activity
and academic achievement, other studies have not been able to establish conclusive evidence.
Therefore, further exploration is necessary to understand the precise relationship between physical
activity and academic performance. It is important to continue studying this topic to gain a more
comprehensive understanding of how physical activity can impact academic outcomes.
Foreign studies.
Globally, the physical fitness levels of school-aged children and their potential impact on academic
achievement have garnered significant attention. Researchers utilize questionnaires/fitness tests to
measure physical activity and fitness, alongside academic performance assessments. Dwyer et al. (2001)
found significant correlations between physical activity measures, physical fitness, and academic ratings
across age and sex groups. These findings underscore the importance of maintaining or enhancing
physical activity programs in schools to support academic success.
This chapter outlines the research design, sources of data/respondents, data collection methods, and
data analysis techniques employed in this study.
The research design utilized in this study is [insert research design]. It provides a framework for the
investigation of the relationship between physical fitness and academic performance among senior high
school students.
The sources of data/respondents in this study are senior high school students attending [name of
school]. Convenience sampling was employed to select the participants, which involves choosing
individuals based on their ease of access to the researchers.
Data collection for this study included [list data collection methods employed]. These methods were

Research design.
This research utilized a combination of descriptive, comparative, and correlational design to analyze the
relationship between physical fitness and academic performance.
The descriptive design was employed to describe the characteristics of the participants, such as their
gender, socioeconomic status, and physical activity levels. This design allowed the researchers to
provide a comprehensive overview of the participants' profiles.
The comparative design was used to compare the effectiveness of two treatments or interventions. In
the context of this research, it may involve comparing the academic performance of students with high
physical fitness levels to those with low fitness levels or comparing the impact of different physical
activity programs on academic outcomes.
The correlational design was utilized to examine the relationship between physical fitness and academic
performance. This design allowed for the exploration of the extent to which these two variables are
related to each other. It may involve measuring physical fitness levels and academic performance scores
and determining if there is a significant correlation between the two.
By employing these different research designs, this study was able to provide a comprehensive analysis
of the relationship between physical fitness and academic performance among the participants

students who are currently studying at Pilpila High School. The researchers have chosen this specific
location for the study. The details provided focus on the relevance of Pilpila High School to the research
and its intended audience.
To gather the necessary data on the relationship between physical fitness and academic performance of
Senior High students, the researchers administered a research questionnaire. This study utilized a survey
questionnaire as a means of data collection, which was completed by the participants.
In order to prioritize the welfare and autonomy of the participants, they were required to sign a consent
form indicating their voluntary participation in the study. This ensured that participants were not
obligated to respond to the survey if they chose not to do so.
Confidentiality was strictly observed throughout the study to protect the privacy and anonymity of the
respondents. The researchers followed ethical guidelines and regulations to ensure the safety and well-
being of the participants.
The researchers collected the respondent's answers to the survey questionnaire as part of the data
collection process for this study.
This chapter presents the results and discussion of the study conducted on the interrelationship
between physical fitness and academic performance among senior high school students of Pilpila High
School. A total of 51 students from grade 11 and 12 were identified as potential participants. However,
only 20 students volunteered to be respondents and answered the survey questionnaire prepared by
the researchers.
The discussion section of this chapter examines the similarities and differences between the findings of
the current study and the previous studies mentioned in the literature review chapter. It aims to
compare and contrast the results gathered from the collected data with the existing research.
By analyzing the results and discussing their implications in relation to the literature review, this chapter
provides a comprehensive understanding of the interrelationship between physical fitness and academic
performance among senior high school students at Pilpila High School.
The findings obtained from the respondents regarding the relationship between physical fitness and
academic performance among Senior High students at Pilpila High School are presented as follows:
1. There is a positive correlation between physical fitness levels and academic performance. The
students who reported higher levels of physical fitness also tended to have better academic
performance, including higher grades and improved classroom behavior.
